Does anybody else here play golf? I played my first round of golf 10 days ago and since then I've played 4 more times. I always thought golf was interesting but I just never had the opportunity to play it since it is so expensive. However, one of my best friends got a job at a golf course this summer and we play for free all the time (H)(Y)

I had my best score today, shot a 133 for a par 72, 18 hole course which sounds horrible, I know, but I only started playing golf 10 days ago so I think it's pretty damn good.

I don't have a set of clubs yet, I've been playing with another friends' clubs the entire time (except for one game where we got some of the ones available to rent in the clubhouse, $1800 clubs, those were some sweet babies). I've been looking online for a complete set in the $100-$200 range and believe it or not I'm finding a lot of starter kits in that range. They arent Titlist, Callaway, Nike or Taylor-Made but for where I am right now I don't need anything better.

Anyways, if you guys ever get the chance don't miss the opportunity of getting into this great game. It is a blast when you're out there playing 18 holes with 2-3 buddies and a case of beer (H)(Y).

I do, but I'm really, really bad. Played as a kid until they turned the course on The Plaza into condos.

Took it up again recently, occasionally play at Renaissance Park.

Do you use handicaps? Because I told myself from the start that I would not just because I want to know my real score.

What clubs do you use?

No I don't, which means my scores are nose bleed high.

I use some clubs my uncle and cousin gave me. I haven't bought my own clubs, they're too expensive.

i bought a pair of second hand howson clubs from someone my mum knows.

i play every now and then but as you say its rather expensive, i tend to get a bout 16 over on the 9 hole which would probably equate to a bit more than your score on the 18 hole but im not sure! aye it is good fun but i fear getting kicked out of my club, i decided i was bored on the range once and tried throwing a ball up in the air and hitting it with my club on the volley... i looked back into the club and they were shaking their heads furiously! so i pretty much dont do that anymore :(

I tried getting into golf, played like 3-4 times but I sucked so bad that I got kinda discouraged and didn't play again. I did play with people who were avid golfers so they were really good, but I couldn't sink a putt to save my life.. and the swing-and-miss when teeing off is really embarrasing.

It can be really fun though, I just like being outside and just walking around on some nice golf courses sipping beer is enjoyable to me in itself.

My gf is kinda getting into golf lately, so I'll go with her to the driving range now and then but that's pretty much the extent of my golfing these days.

Oooh I suck so bad at golf, but to me that makes it even more fun. The regulars at the club are not our biggest fan coz they always get stuck behind us (H)

Oh and I hate people who cheat when you are just playing for fun, retards.

I once managed to hit myself in the balls (with the ball) at the driving range. so no, I do not play golf.

it really is. theyre all very snobby and look down upon people with poor equipment or clothes. but **** em i dont care its a universal sport, ill do what i like!

they are taking my money after all

I guess it's image has changed a bit with the growth of it's popularity and what not, not to mention you see some really low-brow looking individuals on public courses.. but go to any private gold course and it's totally an upper-class prick's game. I especially hate the guys with the remote controlled golf bags :rolleyes: wtf is that all about?

im going to play tomorrow, ill be sure to tell you guys how i get on! one of my mates had a lesson for his birthday i think! so hes going to give me his tips, he thinks he can tell me why i dont get height on shots aswell which is a big problem for me as im ok for power, its just height and accuracy! itll be emotional

well I was at the driving range in U of T's dome when it first opened up and students had free access (clubs, balls, the whole shabang). on both sides of you are 2 short fence-like things that divide you from the person beside you, and on the front end of these fences is a little pole that holds the grill in place. so I managed to hit the ball at such a perfect angle that it hit this pole and bounced straight back and nailed me literally an inch away from my package. I stood there motionless for about 30 seconds and when I moved again I was like holy **** that was close :(

i only went to the driving range today! its amazing who plays and is actually really good at golf, i never knew but a kid from primary schools dad plays and hes actually pretty good! he offered me his balls (H)... golf balls
