Hi All

I've visited the MZ website and looked around, but I'm not sure about something.

What's the catch? Another person in this thread said the game is free to play, and that sounds like it's too good to be true. What do I have to download to play the game on my PC?

Or do you just sign up for a team and start playing? What?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

You just sign up and control your team from the website. no downloading needed..

That sounds great! But how do they pay for the website and service? How can they offer such a detailed game for free? I'm just curious. The whole arrangement does sound quite good.

im not sure how they keep it all going for free, maybe its from the money they get from the paying cups but thats a good question

guys?

Well the catch would be this:

You are right, the developers need the money. That's why they introduced a few popular functions: First it started with the cups. In the cups you play versus teams from other countries, and if you are succesful (get into the first 8 in the end), there are some prizes. Ofcourse, these cups aren't free to play, each costs an euro (now you can calculate, some 5000 people join a cup, that's 5000 euros).
The next function that was introduced were the friendly leagues, costing 1 euro (or equivalent) each. In friendly leagues you can play against your friends, or just get in to compete against managers from the whole world. Each costs 1 euro, and seeing as it's pretty popular, MZ earns alot of money through this.

Next, MZ crew invented the "challenge top clubs" where you can challenge the 8 top division clubs from each country and play against their A-team, 1 euro each match, then "World Allstars" challenge, 1 euro per match to play vs the World Allstars, and finally, the "Greatest players challenge", 1€ to play vs one out of three best teams, managed by some well known managers.
As I saw, there are some 500 matches played a day, so that's 500€ a day.

Next, and probably the function that brings the most money: Analyzer and ManagerZone Live. To sign up for them, you need to buy a package, starting costs 2.95€ (better packages include some free cups, FL's, challenges etc.). The Analyzer and Live tools are made so that you can see your team actually play and correct their mistakes.
This is rather popular too, bringing quite some money in.

Finally, as some countries gained mobile paying access, ManagerZone added a 1€ registration fee, taken directly from your mobile account (this is to prevent cheaters).

As you can see, ManagerZone clearly gets enough money to pay their server costs etc.

Oh, don't forget MZ Hockey is coming out in 2 days, meaning the income will probably double.

Another thing, MZ is free to register and play, period.
All the other things...duh, who needs them...if you've got money to pay for 'em, then do it, but you can clearly play and have a great team without paying for more functions (silly old me being the Swiss champion, Ash playing in English Premier League, and more).

I hope I helped you realise what a great game this is...welcome to the world of MZ ;)

Thank you for all of the information. I think I'll stay with the free part for now. But I noticed that you have to provide your mobile phone number. I don't have a mobile phone, so does that mean I can't join?

nah you don't need a mobile phone to be able to join, otherwise it would be pretty unfair for guys without one who want to play the game..

Sheepy - I believe a break in match statistics means how many attacking moves are made by a certain player. Charging up the field or making a long pass to the attackers. It's not as good as a scoring chance but it's a breakway into the other half by gaining possesion quickly of the other team and going on the attack. If your style is offensive and your aggression is aggressive then you'll find your team will make more breaks. Something I've always noticed.

Rami - It doesn't matter what time he recovers in the day as you can still play him. The player will be listed as recovering and can be played. So time as in when he recovers in the day, doesn't matter in Mz.

high defence tacticks?

everyone keeps talking about this high defence. Everyone plays it. Everyone says it's the best because of a bug in the server.

1. But what exactly is high defence?
2. i keep winning with my 3 5 2 with like 10-0 in leaguematches. should i change also to high defence?

1. Defence pushed up right to midfield line.

2. Nope. Its the cheapest, most annoying tactic ever. Why change from whats working?

What are the money prizes for winning in the league? Do you get something only for the 1st place? Do you get some extra money at the end of the season/beginning of a new one? By looking at the transfer market some people have LOTS of money, how do you do that?

The prize money is very dissapointing. Expecially when you can earn more in the week you are off before the new season through gate reciepts. Though this has been debated much so let's never speak of it again  :p

less than 5 weeks after buying him they'll tax you 95% of the profit. You'll only get taxed if you sell him for more than you paid.
