FM2005; Return of the shooting bug?

I'm just playing with Liverpool and what is bothering me is that although we have much (big) chances, something like 30 a match we still don't manage to score much with strikers like Baros, Cisse and Garcia.

This made me think of the days back in CM where we had this shooting bug. Has it returned?

But the rest is quite nice. The 2d pitch got more realistic

I do have some games where I have real trouble getting the ball in the net, but others where every-chance seems to go in, so I guess it evens out probably.

From the few games i've played with Liverpool on FM, neither Baros, Cisse or Garcia are great strikers on the game though. Try playing with some team like Milan who has Shevchenko to see if you get the same stuff.

Because the 3 you named, always got a lot of 7's and only a few 8's.

Try playing with Real Madrid....I was beating Mallorca 10-0 by the 60th minute. I felt sorry for Mallorca so I gave them a chance and switched the strikers with the defenders.

Some games...it is wayyyy to easy to score.

I think I averaged 5+ goals per game with Real Madrid....I think they are overrated. I even beat Barcelona 6-2

I just beat Arsenal 7-0 using Manutd in the charity shield. Alan SMith scored a hattrick on his debut.

a lot of my shots go wide or straight at the keeper. it did remind me of CM 4 a bit to be honest.

Alot of my players seem to take on rediculous shots aswell when there would be a much better option. It does seem pretty rigged too. I was leading Fulham 2-0 and for the last 10 minutes, the 2d match engine did not switch off once. Every goal kick went straight to the opposition who shot, missed, another goal kick. It was crazy, good thing they were so crap at shooting.

Yea ive noticed that too. Last ten mintues is werid in the game. Also my strikers seem to miss lots of easy shots but make the amazingly impossible ones.

iv found the conversion rates to be a bit dodgy... i have loads of shots, something like 30+ per game, and score 2-3 ish. the comp has a few shots and scores with a significantly lower amount of chances than i do... iv tried adjusting training, tactics etc.. im currently having a discussion about it with one of the guys from SI to see if it is down to tactics or training.... they dont seem to think there is an issue...

I just played with Chelsea my first games of this game. Kezman, Robben, Mutu and Gudjossen scored a lot, I beat all my rivals scoring 4+ goals every game, ok, there are friendlies, but every time Kezman has the ball is a goal; also Lampard plays too good in my game, getting only 9 or 10 even if he doesn't score, but...

Drogba is way underrated, he didn't managed to score one on 6 friendlies and always getting 7-

i tested with arsenal cos villas strikers are quite frankly, crap. but even with henry and reyes, etc, its still dodgy... over at SI, they still claim its tactics and training, but i have decent both, if my bars and green arrows are good and im kicking arse on chances and restricting the opposition to few chances....

First one was just luck, there were many chances for Southampton as well, 9 against 18, 4 on target against 9, making an almost perfect half.

Now on second screen there's something fishy, 11 against 6, also a half against, but 1 against 0 on target, what sounds crappy, and Milan, without having an "on Target shot" scored without an own goal

I guess it was a goal that first touch a post, o bounces out of a defender/goalkeeper, but for me that 0 it's making no-sense

EDIT: I keep scoring a lot with Chelsea, maybe you want to try them, but keep Drogba as a sub, he didn't score ANY of the situation he had, talking about underrated

The stats and values of the Chelsea players are f*cked up, that's why I sold 90% of them

But yeah, it's the same for me as ralfwiggum. I'm sure the results of each game are pre-decided, and that you hve to fight real hard to change that, cos the number of times I press all of the first half for a goal, they dont have a chance, then finally it goes in after 43 minutes to which they knock in their first chance on 45 minutes is infuriating. Luckily I was good enough to be able to resist the rediculous number of chances they are always given in the final 10 mins, but I would like to see this made fairer.

but these are just 2 screen shots of many where i kick arse on chances, at least over 20+ on average and they have 1 or 2 attempts and score from those. most of the games i have won, but thats not the point. on SI site they are claiming its all about conversion rates. now if thats true, then why isnt it the same for both sides? thats my issue with the game... apart from that, the game is superb...

I dont think it counts as a 'shot' if it's a goal. I think the 'On Targets' are just misses that were on target. I'm pretty sure that's how it is in real life anyway.

their goal was a free shot in the middle of the box.... it didnt deflect so should have counted as a shot. if it goes in the net then its on target and counts as a shot on target... this is just 1 of a number of games where i pummel the opposition, and get screwed over by the comp who has minimal shots but still managed to score..... one of the testers/researchers from the SI site said that i need to play more defensively and let the opposition have more chances!
