Football Manager 2012 allows you to take control of any club in over 50 nations across the world, including all of the biggest leagues across Europe.

You’re in the hot-seat, which means you decide who plays and who sits on the bench, you’re in total control of tactics, team-talks, substitutions and pitch-side instructions as you follow the match live with the acclaimed 3D match engine allowing YOU to make the difference!

As the boss you’ll also have full control of team affairs away from the pitch:

Will you spend big-money on expensive superstars or put a focus on scouting for wonderkids?
How will you approach training & match preparation?
Will you be the chairman’s best friend or always demand the best investment from the board?
How do you react when a young star has problems – a shoulder to cry on or a clip round the ear?
And how will you deal with tricky questions from the media?

Now it’s time to put your opinions to the test.

New & improved key features for Football Manager 2012:

Manage Anywhere, Anytime – the ability to add or take away playable nations in your saved game as often as you want. Manage in that country at the start of the next season - meaning you don’t have to decide on which nations are playable at the start of your career.

Transfers & Contracts – significant changes to the transfer and contract systems, including loyalty bonuses, better implementation of amateur and youth contracts, an improved transfer centre and the ability to lock areas of the contract negotiation when you aren't prepared to budge. This helps you to manage your budgets and gives you flexibility in what you offer money hungry players, or agents, as incentives.

Scouting improvements – using several real life scouting reports, a new in-game report was devised which includes squad analysis, tactics information and information about goals scored and conceded alongside lots of other scouting improvements, giving you all the information you need to prepare before kick-off and throughout the season.

3D Match Improvements – new animations, a whole new crowd system, improved weather system, more stadiums, plus two brand new cameras - "Behind Goal" and "Director Cam" as well as all other camera angles being reversible - meaning you can watch and analyse every aspect of every game.

Intelligent Interface – a new adaptive layout system, which means the higher your screen resolution, the more info is easily at your fingertips. The new interface also contains new filters, customisable columns, a new tactics screen, and lots of new overview screens.

Tone – a whole new level has been added to team talks and conversations, with the new tone system, which allows you to specify the way you want to say things – be as cool as a cucumber by saying things calmly or throw tea cups around by saying things with passion. There are 5 different tones to choose from with specific comments per tone.

Brand New Tutorial – standing separate from the main game, a mode to help new players find their way around the game easily, whilst also offering tips to experienced managers on how to get the most out of the game, as well as a new in-game “how to” system.

On top of these key innovations, there are lots of areas of the game that have had huge improvements, such as the media system, press conferences, the youth system, newgens, the social networking options, friendlies, international management and many more which will be detailed in a series of video blogs over the coming months, alongside more information about Football Manager 2012.

The ability to add and subtract leagues could spice up saves when you want to do something different, but I dunno how'll they'll pull it off properly.

Transfer and contracts improvements could be what I've been waiting for for a while, and I hope that they implement a buy-and-loan-back option.

I love scouting, so that sounds nice, although it sounds like it'ps mostly opposition scouting, hope it's both.

3D and layout improvements are peripheral, although having passed on FM2011, I might finally give 3D a proper go, the youtube vid looks nice enough.

Tone would finally add some variety to team talks, and could give a sense of personality to every manager.

Ultimately, it all looks like finetuning, nothing major has been announced yet, just tweaks here and there.

I'll definitely get it though, because I'll have plenty of new things to do having passed on 2011, and I assume the DLR system will have been ironed out, so I'm looking forward to that.

It's that time of the year again, ey?

The option to add and substract leagues sounds great, if it works, especially for people who don't have such good PC's. The improvement on scouting reports sound promising. I think in FM 2011 SI finally came close to getting the 3D engine right. In fact I made the switch to playing FM in 3D, but any improvements there are also more than welcome. Don't know about the tone feature on the team talks. Will have to see how that works out.

Anyway, exciting as always.

What saves do you think you'll do?

I'm definitely gonna start with a Chelsea save, and then probably move on to a Journeyman save and an Israeli club and country save where I'll try to make them the biggest footballing nation in the world.

Might give Malaga and PSG a try, too.

I think I might even buy FM this year again. The last one I bought and still play is 09.

I will probably do a Chelsea and PSG save. I can never do a Utd one because I somehow have an attachment to our players and could never sell them, even in a game.
Chelsea have an interesting squad and there's also the added bonus of having enough funds.

Traditionally I'll play with Arsenal in the demo and Ajax in my first save in the full game. Might try out Liverpool too, for an easy run to start with. They have a nice squad to develop in the game I think.

I'm also considering PSG, Borussia Dortmund and Udinese.

Dortmund's a good idea as well. Or else just buy a few of their players.

Dortmund is a great idea, as long as their young aussie are high potential! :P

Az, you said no major features yet, I think adding/subtracting leagues is a huge feature, and would have taken an age to implement well. Generally SI only implement something when they believe it's at a good level, so I'm excited about that. I've had so many saves in the past where I've later wished I had more or different leagues.

Cool new feature. Obviously I'll start with Bayern first, play a season or two, and then get frustrated that I'm not incinvible and quit. Second game... meh, probably City, maybe Dortmund.

I'll start a game, get the shïts that it's too far behind the real world to begin, and quit...

I can never get into a club game, because by the time it comes out, usually the world in club football has changed too much. I don't need 100% accuracy, that's obviously impossible, I just want it at the start of my game!!

I might also start with an Australian U19s side or something like that, until I get right into the future.

Langerak played well against Munich, so you might be lucky ;)

I'll probably try the DLR thing again with a small club. Leaning towards First Vienna FC, Austria's oldest football club, and they seem classy. From Prague to Vienna would be a nice step aswell (two great opera cities! ;)). Austria is a pretty lame football country, though, so I'm not sure yet.

And yeah, PSG, Malaga, Anzhi... might give those a shot.

Btw, having listened to parts of the podcasts I've learned two new features that I like:

- Entertainment factor. When appropriate, if your team plays entertaining football it will be appreciated by the fans.

- Supporter types. Each team's fans will have a certain profile, depending on their ratings in several categories: affluence, patience, passion, loyalty and temperament. This means that you can have lots of gloryhunters who will leave the team when it's not doing well, etc.

Yeah, that sounds cool. The supporter thing type thing is sort of from FM Live.

I'm excited about this and FIFA 12. FIFA 12 is apparently finally the same on pc as the consoles! Which means I can get it on pc instead of 360 (or as well as), and get good downloadable content.

You need connection to the Internet to complete the installation of FM2012 as it has to use Steam. What Rubbish!!!

I've seen them try stuff like this before and the pirated version is always available on the first day anyway. There's always a way around things and this just ends up screwing the buyers.
