2004/05 UEFA Champions League continued...

First Knockout Round

Smaller teams such as Standard, M. Haifa, and Red Star are through to the Quarter Finals. Red Star even knocked out Euro League side Lyon! AC Milan needed to wait for the second leg to surely secure themselves a spot in the Quarter Finals. Stuttgart from Germany, defeated Beveren 2-0 at home and drew 0-0 away. FC Porto won on aggregate against Atletico Madrid after winning 1-0 in the away leg (at home). Middlesbrough gave Paris a very good challenge, but Paris managed to get that second leg victory and thereby advance. FC Bayern, still continuing to impress the most, defeat Parma 4-1 on aggregate and enter the Quarter Finals.

Quarter Finals

M. Haifa can keep dreaming as they also advance to the Semi Finals. They knocked out other surprise team Standard from Belgium. Red Star, lost out to AC Milan after leading Milan 1-0 until the 80th minute when AC scored two goals to win 2-1 in Belgrade. Stuttgart also pulls an upset, defeating FC Porto 2-1 in Porto. As for Bayern Munich, they easily defeat Paris 5-1 on aggregate and go through.

Semi Finals

Haifa's run ends here against giants AC Milan who defeated them 2-0 in Milan and drew 0-0 in Israel. FC Bayern, 5-0 on aggregate against Stuttgart says it all. They are going in as favourites against Milan!

Final

And, surprisingly, AC Milan beats Bayern Munich 1-0 after Bayern dominated the ENTIRE match. See below...

Dida was voted Man of the Match for his extrvagant saves against the Bayern forwards!

2004/05 SILVER League

Final Standings

Club Brugge finished first, to some surprise and get promoted to the Gold League. Lazio do the same. Rosenborg finish last place and are therefore the worst team in the Euro League. Tottenham who won the Euro Challenge Cup, almost make promotion but will have to wait another year to do so.

2004/05 GOLD League

Final Standings

Galatasaray and Feyenoord lead the way to the Platinum League, while Deportivo La Coruna and Sporting choke and get relegated to the bottom league. Marseille finished to some surprise third last, but avoided relegation.

2004/05 PLATINUM League

Final Standings

A major upset is pulled here as Fenerbahce finish in first place and get promoted to the Premier League. It will be doubtful in how they can do up there, but we will see. They finished almost 20 points ahead of second place, Monaco. Another surprise finish, AS Roma came in second last, therefore are relegated to the Gold League. Benfica had no chance as they only managed 27 points and therefore finish last place.

Oh yeah, for those who want to know... Adriano was top goalscorer just ahead of Helder Postiga and RVN in the Premier League. I think Adriano scored 19 goals, while HP and RVN scored 17 each.

This is just incase you are curious. My holiday file is already gotten to the year 2029! So, here is the head to head between Chelsea and AC Milan up to that year.

Chelsea got relegated in the 2011 season and have since not been able to get promoted again. They've even been relegated to the Gold League at one point.
