Fix for Team Experience bug in Manager Mode

Folks,

I have created and tested a fix for this issue, which involves correcting the metadata in FIFA.DB and updating existing manager mode saved game files to adjust the playerstats entries accordingly.

However, before I go through the effort of wrapping this up in the EAFFAnalyser GUI and releasing it for public consumption I'd like to gauge how much interest there is in such a fix. For myself I am now all sorted out using the command line version of my dump program for FIFA 10, so I have no need to do anything further, but if there are others out there who'd like such a fix then I will make the effort to update EAFFAnalyser and the associated documentation.

Please let me know, either by posting here or by sending an email (click on my name in the LH column and you can send an email that way), if you'd like a fix for the team experience bug and also whether or not you'd be willing to try the beta version of EAFFAnalyser or would prefer to wait for the release version.

Nice to see you back, Steve. I would like this problem to be fixed and would be more than happy to be a beta tester.

Nice to see you are still around. I really enjoyed your EAFFAnalyzer program in years past. I would be interested in this fix and would help test as well.

What's the team experience bug? Anyhow, i guess i would like to have it too just in case.

I wonder if this can help my problem of the game crashing in Manager mode due to having too many players on the team.

Apologies for the delay in replying to those that posted straight away but I've been hanging on in the hope that others would pipe up (as they have done) and because I was working on a fix for the cup replay issue too - which I am pleased to report I have coded and tested. There will be a further (hopefully short) delay whilst I add the extra elements to EAFFAnalyser and update the documentation (although the user guide will probably be incomplete, as ever, at least to start with). This is unlikely to bother those that are already familiar with the older versions, but may present a partial barrier to the newcomers.

@Jayvol, Antonio, Chris - have your email addresses changed from two years ago?? If so, please let me have the address you'd like me to use

I've not yet encountered this for FIFA 10 so perhaps you could send me (or upload somewhere and send a link) any manager mode data file(s) that trigger crashes and, if you have modified the game in any way using third-party tools or add-ons, your FIFA.DB and ENG.DB

My tools fix the old 30 player limit problem for FIFA 07 and FIFA 08, but it looks to me like they may have increased the size of some of the data areas for FIFA 10 (and possibly for FIFA 09 - I never did use that version) so I need to see an example of the problem in order to try and fix it

If you prefer to send me the file(s) rather than upload them then please use an archive format (like ZIP) to give me a level of confidence that the files have come through unscathed, and then email to the address you can see in this graphic:

Further work on this has been delayed until the weekend due to the fact that I've been playing with the FIFA Online beta :)

The files that Saturn sent me indicate that the development team have not fixed the 30 player limit bug, simply increased the size of the affected areas in the saved game layout to 45 entries, so we now have a 45 player limit bug. I imagine that not too many folk will trip over this, but there does seem to be a (possibly related) bug with players returning from loan not having an entry in the grown attributes table.

Therefore, please would everyone check their manager mode squads in the Player Growth display to see if they have any players showing as all question marks, even for the current season?? Let me know, either via email or a post in this thread, if you see this issue.

Unfortunately those investigations and various external factors (a visit to the mother-in-laws, the start of the Six Nations rugby and the Super Bowl) have eaten into my time and therefore I've not got as far as sending out the public version of the updated EAFFAnalyser. However, I do now have a version that appears to work with the new dump program and I will be testing that over the next day or two and then updating the documentation sufficiently for those that have agreed to beta test to have enough information to get them up and running.

First results from some quick testing...

The EAFFAnalyser program ran fine. I was able to run an analysis of my saved career file. It also corrected fixed the team chemistry issue, and I was able to watch the chemistry increase when I played a little farther into my career file.

I don't have any issues with numbers of players over 30 or fixture congestion in my current db file, so I didn't test those yet.

But good results so far.

Thanks for the feedback. Let me know if there is anything you think I ought to be reporting on and I'm not. The HTML output hasn't received much love yet for this version and personally I tend to use the team fixture page more often than all of the others put together. Short term focus is on handling the player entries properly, especially when read from the patch file or the squads, but I'm still validating my interpretation of how the new mechanism works, so it may be a week or so before I have a fix.

to all those who dont wanna wait for steve's fix and want a good chemistry for their team just download manager master 10 search the tabs their you can edit your team stats money prestige etc

You don't have to wait, the beta version is available now and I'm quite happy to send it to anyone that would like to try it out. As you can see from Chris' post above the program works - it is a beta because I don't use the GUI front end myself (all the real work is done by command line driven programs that I execute directly for my own use) and because I struggle to keep the documentation up to date, preferring to play the game or mess with the dump programs (which are the bits I enjoy) rather than being a technical author (which I don't).

But team chemistry is a calculated value, so I don't see how changing things with MM or IM will help.
