Why Ibra? Didn't he score fewer goals in a worse league than some of the other strikers? He also didn't win anything.

I guess Ronaldo isn't winning the Ballon d'Or. He won't be attending the FIFA Ballon d'Or 2013 ceremony, since he only shows up when he wins an award.

I see that most of you consider Ribery the sure winner of Ballon d'Or 12/13. But what the f*ck did Franck Ribery last season? Scored 10 goals and offered 15 assists against Mainz and Nurnberg in Bundesliga?! He isn't a superstar, never been one, had a good 12/13 season, but for me, nothing more than that. He isn't even a crucial player for Bayern, I consider Scheinsteiger or Muller at the same lavel with him. Why do most of you think that Messi doesn't have chances to win the Ballon d'Or again? Man, he scored 64 GOALS last season, 46 just in Primera, again the best goalscorer in the world, almost double than RVP and Ibrahimovic. I agree even with this stats that Messi wasn't in his best form last season, and in my opinion, Cristiano should finally fulfilled his dream : beat Messi, and the stats of them are pretty the same (62 goals for the Portuguese), but he continue to show an amazing form.

I know the same, but it seems that de Ballon d'Or will be given to a good, but not world class player from the best team of the season. Ronaldo, finally deserve the Golden Ball this year. He helped his team much more than Ribery did for Bayern last year and keeps the "los blancos" high in La Liga.

Ribery's words were a pain for my ears. "I was a good player before, now I think I am the best. I think I deserve Ballon d'Or and all the Bayern team thinks so. My wife already prepared the space for it above the fireplace in the living-room."

I think the way the awards are decided needs to be clarified but based on the last few years, no one but Messi and Ronaldo stand a chance. If Ribery wins then Sneijder should have won in 2010.

Isn't that a bit arrogant ? He does play for Bayern who did win a special treble and he had contributions. But c'mon, seriouly, the best in the world ? The Ballon d'Or ? No offense, but I would expect from a youth player to have such a subjective point of view. I'm glad that his teammates support him (which they should), but he already got an award for his achievements.

I bought C.Ronaldo
I don't think Ribery deserves that Ballon d'Or. Its just outrageous!!! Ronaldo deserves it more!

The problem is that you, like most people, seem to think that goals are the only contribution that matters when considering who the "best" player in the world is. Messi actually has not scored 64 goals this year; it is based on the calendar year and this year he only has 39 total for club and an additional 6 for Argentina.

So beyond goals, if you watched the games it isn't really even close. Messi and Ronaldo were garbino in the latter stages of the Champions League; Ronaldo because he sucks in big games and Messi because he was injured. Ribery, on the other hand, was the most dangerous player on the most dangerous team.

For what it's worth, I'm now of the opinion that Philipp Lahm has been the best player in the year 2013 after his brilliant turn in central midfield and of course his excellence in defense in the second half of last season, including my count of 19 total assists for the year.

Football plays on goals, and goals are the best argument to be the best. I understand you, and I'm agree with just a part that you say, but I remain at my opinion, that Messi and Ronaldo are the only players that are vital for their teams and carry them in their back, ahead from other footballers. And you can't say that Pelé wasn't an amazing footballer because he played only in America and never won a Champions League/Cup.

But see, your argument is lacking because they can't carry their team very far with their goals. Ribery's (or Lahm's) superior play and leadership on the other hand, has carried the team to success. Winning is more important than scoring, and how many of those impressive goals have come in 6-1 wins when they are unimportant?
