Fifa 2006 CEP - Career Expansion Patch

I'm assuming the original game. But I guess let's discuss both. If I can't edit the original but can with the CEP then good, or visa via. Basically is there any way in which I can begin a career mode, get several seasons into it, then edit the game and continue with that career mode?

Yep I know the original structure of south american leagues: they are very different from european ones, often they have a clausura/apertura structura, playoffs, and even more complicated structure (Bolivia for example has a league with 12 teams and first 6 play a tournament called "Hexagonal"). The problem is that it's not easy at all to insert this structure in Fifa: if I realize an apertura/clausura league, for example, you'll have duplicated teams in career (i.e. a Boca Juniors playing apertura and another team Boca Juniors playing clausura): this is way I simplified a lot the actual structure of tournaments.

When I'll complete the leagues I want to add to the game, or maybe before, in one of the future versions, I'll try to "force" fifa database to add tournaments structure more similar to the original ones.

In FIFA Peru, website that i'm admin; a brazilian guy showed up offering a brazilian patch with a lot of similar teams that your patch has till i had noticed; i wonder if that's your patch ...

Awesome add-on. The only thing I can't figure out is where I can pick up the free agents (outside career mode? I see in CC06 that Roy Keane is on the Free Agent list but I can't transfer him in CC so I was hopeing to do it in the game.

Frankly (and sadly), I don't have the sufficient time to realize the CEP and checking if someone is stealing my work too: I hope the fifa community will be able when there are evident cases of copying and stealing. Anyway I know about a brazilian site who did a patch that can seems (wrongly) similar to CEP: but

1) it's not for free: brazilian patch makers seem used to make other people pay for patches (?!?).
2) they substitute existing teams in fifa with others and alter the original files of fifa (as all the "superpatches" do, with the exception of Donovan): only CEP adds and creates.

Thanks for the segnalation anyway, I hope FifaPeru will check if this stuff if something stolen from CEP.

Where is the career.ini file? I was trying to find it with file master, but something went wrong with the prog... my machine froze and the search was not completed...

I've been having a problem with the transfer market, so I suspect the file has been corrupted.

Explain me the problems you are encountering in career (be detailed please), and I'll take a look to them trying to understand why. The career.ini is contained in config.dat that you can open with Biggui.exe. Be aware of rebuilding it or you will corrupt this file and the game will not work.

I have a problem where if I search for a particular player in career mode for a possible transfer, the game crashes back to desktop... even if I search for a player position - eg, if I search for a left-sided midfielder, the game crashes. I ran a fresh install without CEP and the problem remained... so I wanted to replace the career.ini and see if that helped.

I got the Roy Keane issue resolved (hey even if you hate him or love him, you've got to love having that maniac on the pitch!). The only issue I've encountered now is that in a career mode when I try to buy a player, once that week's game is over and it goes to the screen where is it simulating the week's events, it appears to lock up on the part that says, "Finishing transfers" (or something to do with transfers). Other than that I can't find anything else. Great patch mate!

For sure mate, it's sad that people want money for patches ... as we all know patches and FIFA edition is meant to be free. We will check that stuff and if i have news i will tell you, thanks and cheers

Some things I noticed in version 0.10 fifa.db

Something I noticed in the fifa.db of version 0.10 is that there are 707 teams in the table_teams but there are 732 entries in the table_teamwrite (id's 111536 to 111562 appear in it but not in table_teams)

Can I safely remove those or do I leave them as is? Maybe those are the remainers of an old version?

Also, in the table_teams several national teams appear twice with different id numbers (ex. Ghana, Ukraine, Ivory Coast, Japan, Iran,...), is this normal? (maybe you needed to for the tournament system in the table_rtsg?)

I notice this as I manualy add the new teams from the CEP to my table_teams and table_teamkits as I added hundreds of references to adboards and balls and other stuff in there I don't want to loose.

I'll take a look at this: the problem, is almost surely given by the quantity of new players: I fear that fifa is not able to manage 5000 new players inside the database going in the transfers; and this give this sort of problems and (the most common) freezes during transfermarket. This is the only limitation I found until now in expanding Fifa, and I'm studying a stable solution for this together with other editors. If someone can help solving this, it will be a really great achievement. This is related, of course, to what Sjostrom wrote too.

Some teams (nationals too) remained duplicated because of a major bug that I finally solved after: teams names begun to appear blank without a reason, so I had to redo all the links to these teams (the hardest work I had to do with the CEP until now). In fact, these IDs are not used by the game, BUT I don't suggest you to delete them because if so I can not assure your game will work fine: Fifa has still a fragile structure inside the files, so reaching a point in which everything seems working fine is better to leave it as it is. Anyway, if you wanna, in this way, support the CEP development, try to delete unused teams id from the entire database (maybe in teamplayerlinks too) and MAYBE you can discover that this solves the career transfermarket problems! Let me know
