Fifa 2006 CEP - Career Expansion Patch

Limit to the project is given only by time and number of collaborators. Actually I'm still doing code, graphics and testing alone I found some updaters but some kitmakers and graphics could really increase CEP development.

I was wondering if there will be actualy a limit to the CEP. Let me explain myself : You can continue to add championships indefinitely but a time will come when Fifa07 will be announced and then, as last year, people will forget about Fifa06 like they did with Fifa2005. And then they will not care anymore.

I edited my Fifa2005 till Fifa06 demo came out, then I started a career at last, but I gave up rapidly because I prefered to play and edit the 06 version. I won't wait till 07 comes out to start career mode this time, as installing each new version destroys the saved games in progress, and I bet most people will do that also, so wouldn't it be better to plan a final version?

This final version would include the Russian, Greek and whatever championships people help you to include, but it won't be interesting for most I guess to restart their careers just to be able to include the Siberian third division in release 0.47, 3 days before Fifa07 hits the shelves. (well you see what I mean I hope)

The "problem" regarding this patch plannning is related to how much innovative and ambitious the CEP is: if you plan to make a league-patch, you'll surely have a final version soon, and you can make an easy plan of what do you want.

CEP is related to expanding Fifa as much as it is possible (and interesting: I think third division of Siberia is not interesting for anyone) and wants be as much wide as it is possible, trying to gather the efforts and the talents of many. This is why the "development style" I decided to adapt is to release a new version each 15/20 days: because CEP is a growing project. Of course who starts a career and wants to play it completely can avoid to download the new CEP version, for example, finishing it and then installing the new version to start over a new career with more teams.

Of course I don't plan to keep udpdating the CEP until October 2006 when probably Fifa 2007 will be out: I'll surely stop this summer, maybe before, I still don't know. What I know is that you are not forced to use the lastest version if you started a career, BUT you will have the probability, in May (for example) to start a new career while Peru, Serbia, Portugal 2nd division etc. will be featured too. How limitate such a project? I'll release "programmed" versions, of course: for example v 0.11 will feature the full Champions League, UEFA Cup, Intertoto and more national competitions: it will be a "programmed" release: you'll know what will be inside. I think v 0.12 will feature complete CONMEBOL leagues, more european leagues etc. so you'll have the choice to keep playing with 0.11 or upgrade beginning a new career: I don't see the problem in this. I will not release newer versions each 15 containing only a couple of teams more, of course, newer versions will be worth of installed to.

Be sure, anyway, that I'll keep expanding and updating CEP at least until this spring, and I think that, looking at how the Fifa series developed, will be possible to adapt the Fifa 2006 CEP for an hypothetical Fifa 2007 CEP. I'll put a plan of what I want to release on CEP homesite soon too, so you can check what's my idea of a great patch. I hope Fifa community could understand what is the great valour of joining the efforts instead of doing singular leagues mini-patches (namely superpatches).

You've got a point actually, as I was wondering if I should wait starting a career 'til the CL & UEFA-CUP and maybe the Dutch 2nd division would be included, but as I'm on my way with my career (version 0.10) now, I doubt I'll download version 0.11 'til I've fullfilled my own "goals" in the current career.

After the CL & UEFA-Cup inclusion there is not much I'd wish for anyway (apart from the Dutch league), as I always end up picking a team in Italy, so after those inclusions I won't update new versions anymore if that means loosing all previous saves.

Thanks for the explanations Ockham, I hope the CEP can still grow over the Fifa versions then as it is without a doubt, besides Donovan's work, the most ambitious patch ever made for the Fifa Series.

@MagicarRoma I hope the Greek and Turkish leagues will be included at one point, and the whole CL, UEFA and Intertoto deal, once those are in I'll start a serious career also lol.

Great patch! Any chance adding United Soccer Leagues first and second divions, and maybe the A-league in later patches?

I am working on Sydney, Central Coast and New Zealand

I could probably do mini kits for the a-league as well if you wanted

Well, the most people will hate me say it coz nobody likes to play that league (except for some dutch people of course ) but since your asking for some ideas.. maybe the dutch first division... if you need help with player stats and names etc... i can help (and i can find some other people who would like to help to i guess).. but still, it's only nice for the dutch people :X...

I think that we are not all big patches experts and that some ( including me ) have a problem with the installation of the patch , as we are used to have league patches where You automatically download the patch , and as far as Your patch is very big the system is little bit different .

Would You be so kind to prepair the Installation Read Me for dummies ?

Well you should read the readme anyway "Installation procedure" is explained with big characters, anyway as you missed it, it's VERY easy (I'd say the easiest, and most of all, the safest because it does not alter ANYTHING in fifa original big files):

extract the rar in Fifa directory
execute fatbhbuilder.exe inside data directory
play

If you think it's necessary I'll put an automatic link to fatbhbuilder.exe in the installation, but c'mon, I think everyone can use this

Ockham, I mailed them to you yesterday check your mailbox. And I put it available as download since the CEP got trashed bad on a german site because they couldn't play in German, now they can and are very happy, also my page is full of links to the CEP home site, don't panic they won't confuse you and me as the big guru behind the patch.

If you can't stand that page on my homesite just say the word and I'll remove it, np oh and my name is "Billy1969" not "Billy" as shown in the little fonts by the credits on your site.

No problem man: maybe we misunderstood: for sponsorship stuff related, the CEP downloads have to be on the same site, I putted your files with your name as fast as has been possible for me editing the homesite. If a german site trashed bad the cep was indeed a problem of hurry of the german site A problem for them, anyway. The fonts used for your "Billy" is the same of the font used for all others contributors and for all other links; about the 1969 I wanted just to keep a bit of privacy on your birthdate. Relax anyway Peace and love :fool:

Going to update the links on my page and relink them directly to the CEP page, it was made in the idea of a free publicity, as this is, as I said before, a very ambitious patch and I'd like to make as many fifa players as possible know about it's existence.

I go on many sites and I read some Germans comment that it was bad they couldn't play in their language and all, so I hurried to translate the cep's language.db to ger.db to make those people happy so they could play the game with the new leagues and teams with the right texts appearing ingame, nothing more (we all know it takes a bit of negative publicity to show up on a site about a patch and lots of people would not even try it out then so I try to counter that).

Sorry for my short temper, but I slept only a few hours in the two days following the Roma defeat, I get even nightmares about the table now and I'm very very itchy atm, even my wife and kids avoid me as much as possible atm, so I guess my face tells the whole story.
