Fifa 2004 only supports maximum of 3 gamepads

Hey all. I have four gamepads I want to use for 2 on 2, but there is only three gamepad slots in game plus the keyboard. What's up with this? Much older fifa games had support for far more gamepads. Would this be acceptable on a console version? I don't think so.. Anyway, is there anyway to replace the keyboard slot with a 4th gamepad? Thanks

Ok, well I got it to work if I network my laptop in and play a network game, each computer can have 2 gamepads. And I think using this route I could technically fit another 2 gamepads in. So this shows that the game code can handle multiple gamepads, at least in some form. But I was hoping to have 4 gamepads on one pc, since the laptop is slower, and playing network games limits the time and amount of pauses you can do to change team settings.
