FIFA 2002 review

Yup, that guy is like the only reviewer in the universe that is capable of giving FIFA an objective look each year. I couldn't imagine having nailed it any better.

I just read this again. I challenge anyone to find fault with ANY of the reviewer's points. This should finally put an end to the ISS vs. FIFA "debate," if you want to call it that - the term certainly doesn't do justice to ISS.

For goodnees sake, so what if it is Neutral, so what if it is biased, the main thing is that all of the points in that review are TRUE. Can't you fifa fans accept that?

Tell me one point on that review which is not true, can't you fifa fans open your eyes when you play the bloody game.

I would rather read that review than read any other review that tries to hide that the game has MANY BUGS. You are telling me that this is biased? have you read joe/matt and co reviews of fifa? they gave it 95%, and they seemed to hide out all these bugs. That is pathetic.

Well, irespective of who writes any review or how the review is interpreted, any one who has been around the Fifa gaming scene for the past 8 years would now know that the Fifa series is as dead as a Dodo, it is a complete shambles and a blight to the Football gaming scene, Fifa RTWC and WC98 along with Premier All Stars 2001 are the only ones worth a mention, and all the rest of the Fifa games can be discounted, especially the last two in the series, they are pathetic to say the least, the latest effort namely Fifa 2002 would send any serious player totally insane, it is akin to trying to play with a set of misshaped and erratic marbles coupled to the wooden actions of a set of tenpins .. thank goodness that i got rid of them both, now i seriously wonder just how many of you other forum users still actually play Fifa 2002 just over a month after it's release .. A great pity that EA never kept it all up to speed, with all those resources at there disposal they could and should have been leading the way to Football gaming perfection, but !! ........ Ned :(

Fifa 98

You challenge someone to find fault with this review. How about this for starters: I quote the opening paragraph:

"Four years ago, EA Sports turned the soccer gaming world on its ear with the release of Fifa: Road To The World Cup 98, featuring brilliant gameplay, excellent graphics and a massive selection of teams. RTWC was the best soccer game available by a country mile"

That is the biggest load of bullshit I have ever read (and that's saying something for online journalism). Did the reviewer ever actually play FIFA?

RTWC was ok - certainly an improvement over Fifa 97 (shudder), but to say it was the best football game available 'by a country mile' is ridiculous. I remember the reviews - magazines like N64 and Gamesmaster gave it scores in the mid 70%s-early 80s. This is in contrast to the first N64 ISS game which was universally accepted as incredible for the time; CVG remarked 'five years ago, this would have been a vision of the perfect football game'. Granted, ISS had faults but critically (if not commercially) it still blew Fifa out of the water. I still play it occasionally today (and check out my FAQ on gamefaqs.com).

I'm not going to stop there. Remember WWS 97 on the Saturn? This also got much better reviews than Fifa. Personally, I would also add the ISS Deluxe on the Snes and Sensible World of Soccer to the list of better games than RTWC. If ISS Pro was out at the time, add that too (even before Evo, Pro was amazing).

Fifa was slow and unresponsive, and the tackling (ISS's best feature) was lousy. The reviewer is right in some respects though - the graphics weren't bad, and it was comprehensive in terms of teams. Brilliant indoor mode too (one of these for PES 2 please Konami).

So there you go. Point challenged.

DISCLAIMER: The above is extremely pedantic, arguing with one minor point of an otherwise excellent review. Good job.
