FifaCitiu and Gamplayzer used that idea and I remember it was pretty good. The thing is again how to make all youth players being "born" with longshot trait by default. So, if we make all players having longshot traits, it need to be done in career.ini's files to make all players have that trait from the very first beginning, and I'm afraid this is not possible.

All players in my edited db have the long shot trait AND the distance shooter specialty (combined shot power and long shot ratings set at 85-90 or so). Now when I did this with FIFA 13, there was a huge increase in long shots, very noticeable, to the extent that I considered reducing those edits given players took too many long shots.

I did the same with FIFA 14 and it has made next-to-no difference. Players seldom take long shots even with those edits. The simple fact is EA screwed up the gameplay balance, player rating effectiveness, and ball physics this year when they added the new player momentum feature. It's kind of sad, but there really is nothing that can completely save this game this year. And the ONLY way to get FIFA 14 to play a half-decent game of simulation football is to edit player ratings, even as ineffective as all that editing can be. Slider adjustments just don't do it, that's like bailing out a sinking boat with a tea cup.

Yeah, I've been able to create more fouls as well with my edits, but not long shots. And you are welcome.

Hey Waldo, still playing with your slider settings and for me personally they're the best out there at the moment. However, did you take any changes so far? Would love to test it!

Nealz, I haven't made any adjustment to the sliders yet. I'm now simply enjoying the gameplay I have with current sliders. I'm glad you like it and thanks for feedback. If I am to change/improve something, I'll post here. I believe there is more it can be done via sliders, like the GK ability (I did some small-one-match testing today actually) and positioning, but I don't have much free time to experiment and go so deep. So, for now, the latest are those already posted.

I'm afraid that's not possible to give to newly born players the trait longshot, or at leat only that trait. In the ini career files i've found the way to give traits to new players, but that setting give random traits to player.

I've been a FIFA player since the original on the SNES, making the move onto PS1 in 1998, PS2 in 2002 and finally PS3 in 2013 (FIFA game years).

FIFA on the PS3 was a huge difference compared to the PS2 game engine, which I had become so accustomed to for several years. It felt nice to be challenged again by the time I started playing FIFA 13 on the Playstation 3 but eventually, through hours of playing manager mode I started to get the same success I achieved on past games and consoles.

It wasn't until FIFA 14 that I started to question the whole game engine. I never thought I would on the better console but it happened when I started winning games on professional mode too easily. 5 out of 4 games versus the computer would end in the opposition having 0 shots on my goal. It got very boring, despite being top of the table and winning cups.

Naively, I put the difficulty up to World Class. I enjoyed the competitiveness for the first couple of games but after 10 games I started to notice a pattern. I would win 1-0 or 2-1 a few times, then guaranteed to lose by any means possible. I remember one time the CPU player physically went through my defender like he was a ghost so he was one on one and scored.

Another example fresher in my memory was Lua-Lua the pacey winger who could out run most full backs in the game on Professional level, went against a full back with pace and acc skills in the 60's. Lua-Lua could not out pace him and that's when I stopped playing the game.

Since then I have been reading this post and others similar out there on the internet and struggling to get my head around this USER/CPU gameplay slider. I did not know it even existed.

There are so many variations, I do not really know where to start.

Two things I would like clarified are:

1) What's the scale? For example 0 = lowest 100 = highest

2) The settings for LINE HEIGHT, LINE LENGTH, LINE WIDTH as someone kindly explained what they mean in this thread, seem to contradict the TACTICS and CUSTOMISED TACTICS in the game. Does anyone use tactics or are they just for cosmetic purposes?

I was enjoying a brilliant game with Brighton & Hove Albion and I hope I can savour it with these game slider adjustments. Although it looks like it will take awhile to find something that will suit me.

Lastly, thanks for all the contributions in this thread it's nice to see some possible solutions to some shocking default settings EA has made on this game. I can only imagine it is a conspiracy to force those of us who enjoy career mode offline, to play online and thus spend more money than the RRP price we pay for the initial game.

1) Yes, scale goes from 0 to 100, 0 is lowest, 100 is highest.

Thanks for the reply.

I understood how those positioning sliders work through the original post. I wanted to ask about how that contradicts the tactics in the game; customised and default.

Well, same as if it's by the default. The thing is that with custom tactics you wont get major change in build-up play from AI. Editing tactics is not very useful in FIFA, I guess you'll have to see it yourself. PES is more tactical depending game then FIFA. Forget tactics, use it only for improving your play a bit, use sliders to change AI.

i would have to disagree with the tactics post, i have proof that it does make a huge difference, more that sliders do.

Thanks mate, I'm glad you like it. About new changes, not really, only small changes like CPU Pass Error from 56 to 60 now. I haven't messed with Speed and Positioning sliders at all for a long time now.

Realistic game!

Hoping someone will see this, as last post over a month ago...

Play with Juventus in CM mode and find that AI is far too aggressive and attacking than the teams would be in real life, even when playing small teams (and when small Serie A teams play against Juve, they just sit deep and defend with 10 men behind the ball, making the occasional counter attac...) So, to have a more realistic feel, how can I set the sliders, both for myself and CPU?

I've played a lot of games and been in a lot of sports, including male-dominated, co-ed ones such as football and rugby. My experience has been, as long as you act like 'one of the guys', keep your head down, and play strongly to the 'I'm not like that' card, you'll be treated much the same.
