Some of you are jumping to conclusions. There is no FIFA 14 next-gen on PC or consoles in September, that's already been made clear. FIFA will be on the next-gen consoles later after that (spring?). FIFA 15 will be on the PC no doubt, and will it be next gen? Who knows? But it's pointless to whine about it a year before we know anything.

FIFA 06: Road to the World Cup was the 1st next-gen game of the series in XBOX 360, and we waited until FIFA 11 to see next-gen graphics on PC, the 1st being released in 2005, the other in 2010, should we wait for another 5 years? or will EA do it for next year? seriously if it contiues by this way, I'll switch to PES

FIFA 14 not being next gen might not be the only reason of switching to PES, but Fox Engine and features KONAMI can offer with it. Now, I cant judge any of the games as nothing is yet shown. But I honestly doubt KONAMI will drop advantage they have now.

Should we kill ourselves now just because scientists have said the sun will implode at some time in the future? Do you have nothing better to do than worry about what might or might not happen in a year or two years from now?

If they don't finally fix the god-awful animations and the horrible GK AI, then some pretty Fox engine graphics are not going to make that game a worthwhile purchase.

Ha-ha! I honestly laughed out loud when I read that. Konami has bobbled and dropped the ball the past -- what? seven years now? They have absolutely no clue what they're doing. They shoot themselves in the foot year after year, why should 2014 be any different?

Well, new engine should bring new animations, improved or worse is about to see. And dont you worry about KONAMI knowing or not what they do, I hope I wont be the one laughing last ;)

The definition of insanity is doing something over and over again and expecting different results.... like year after year thinking Konami will finally get their act together and release a decent football game.

Not about laughing last, it's about being a smart consumer and not throwing money away on another useless game. Konami has repeatedly shown they'll knowingly release half-broken games, because they know there are thousands of saps out there who will run out and buy it anyway just because it's football.

And FIFA 12 with broken Impact Engine, with tons of bugs, and FIFA 12.5 aka FIFA 13 is well spent money?

Now Bangus, do you honestly believe KONAMI would get only graphics improvement with Fox Engine? I'm interesting what do you think they will offer with new PES. Same old s***, new s*** or something that might actually slap FIFA in the face? Your honest thoughts?

The way I see it is this: FIFA 13 needs lots of work to get it play a realistic game of football. But it can be fixed. PES needs as much work, but core elements are simply broken and can't be fixed. And those core elements have been broken for years now. Konami releases the game every year with these same broken elements, and that to me is unacceptable.

Now when it comes to gameplay realism, EA has no interest designing a realistic suimulation. FIFA is essentially an arcade game designed to appeal to the online crowd and casual gamers. All of EA's sports franchises are arcade-oriented, because they know that's what sells and will make them tons of money, simple as that.

Konami on the other hand is trying to make a realistic simulation for older gamers and for people who know football. And yes, Konami seems to be headed in the right direction, and PES 13 showed some improvement. But I'm not going to jump on the Konami bandwagon and assume their new-gen game is going to magically be great. They haven't released a great football game in years, so it's tough to believe they suddenly will.

BTW Waldo, I said Konami is trying to make a simulation game for football purists, even though I'm not so sure they are anymore. The fact is they've been simplifying and dumbing down PES for at least 3-4 years now by removing important and even critical player ratings and team tactic settings. Because of that, the gameplay can't be modded and fixed to the extent it could be a few years back. They sold out in some ways and decided to simplify the game, probably because they decided to go the same route as EA and make the game more accessible to pick-up-and-play consumers. That's another reason I really don't trust Konami at this point.
