So, FIFA 11 is going to be fully next-gen. What does this mean?
Like many other editers, I had a look into FIFA 10 NG files and there is a totally mess :D
Everything is different, starting from textures (rx3) and going to models (don't remember the extension, surely not .o). There are still zdatas even if they are combined in different ways and the db should not be that difficult to edit.
So now the questions are:
1) Should we start trying to understand FIFA 10 NG files structure in order to be ready for FIFA 11 PC or should we wait for the demo?
2) If we start now, are we able to share our knowledge with the others and try to make different things and to open the more files we can?

About the point 2 I have talked with Krystian that had a further look to FIFA 10 NG textures and the main problem is that without knowing what bitmap is inside the file, it is very difficult to understand the compression. Do you have any idea?

About the point 1, you should be aware that all the work done now could be useless because files could have been changed during the porting (I don't think so sincerely)...

What do you think about it, guys?

Editing scene sure is in a tough situation now.

I doubt that the console file-ext.'s will be the same as in the upcoming pc-version.
But anyways, I think we'll have to wait for the demo to see what the new structure and formats will look like.

Even if someone figures the new file-formats out, there will be some parts in FIFA-editing we'll have to say goodbye to.
For example crowd editing, not that I feel ng-crowd needs to be edited, but afaik they are in voxels now, so be my guest, editing one of thoses.

I doubt the contrary sincerely... I don't see why EA SPORTS programmers should do an extra-work to change file types and extensions if they are porting the game from consoles!

This is precisely my fear. What if it is not possible for a long time to edit Fifa? No new leagues or more teams, then the PC lost his only advantage to the consoles.
We do not even know how the files are really on the PC, which will only be able to see the Demo, everything else would be speculation.

There will be creation centre. I hope there will be way to see how does it work (or what files it export/import) and it could be start for rinaldo etc. :).

I'm really confident, that with dedication, we will find a way to edit fifa as in the past. Especially, for the incredible quality of editors and mods that has the community.

you just can't know if the FIFA11 PC files will be the same with the ones used for consoles. EA said they spend 2 years to make this game for PC so you should expect something way different from X360/PS3 FIFA11 when it comes to files extensions, structure etc.

What i mean is the game is the same in all the aspects, but it's made for pc in different algorithms using the same engine taken from consoles.
So you can't just go and study FIFA10 NG files... it just doesn't make any sense.

nice man, but i think we know what type of files exts are used for the graphics, its just a matter of decompressing & editing, & recompressing we need to figure out.

& what types of file exts will be used w/ pc.

i agree w/ 87 about ea not making a completely new file structure for pc version, but anything is possible.

all i know is the minds we have working on it will get it figured out rather quickly.

I think we should wait for demo indeed, so I'm going to close this thread for the moment :)

Why did I change my mind? Because, if you remember, PS2 files were different from PC files (fsh in PC became ssh in Ps2 with different compression), so we are not sure at all we are getting the same FIFA NG files and it is useless to waiste time editing console files if we don't know if it is worthy to do that...
