Feyenoord has got a good position at the ranking during the winter-break. They are 2nd with the same points as the number 1, PSV Eindhoven.

There are some rumours about new players during the winter-break, players that are named in the press:
- Andre Ooijer (not an option during this transferperiod, said by Blackburn)
- Denny Landzaat (Wigan, has said he wont come back to Netherlands yet)
- Antonio Rukavina (Partizan, it is said Feyenoord don't want to spend more than 3 million for him)
- Maceo Rigters (Blackburn, Feyenoord have said they are not interested today)

They are searching for a physical strong defending midfielder, players that are named for this position are:
- Dominique Kivuvu (NEC Nijmegen)
- Ibrahim Kargbo (Willem II)

They are also searching for a defender, especially for a back :) The only player named so far for this position is Antonio Rukavina, but he is too expensive for Feyenoord.

There are also rumours about Mark van Bommel (Bayern) to join Feyenoord in the summer. But I think this is ridiculous. Van Bommel is still at the top of his play and is an important player in Bayern. But it is said that Van Bommel will leave Bayern, when Marco van Basten will be appointed as headcoach, so there is still a chance..

Here is a hopefull story about Feyenoord's latest signing, Kermit Erasmus. He will be at Feyenoord from July 2008, he is at the moment still playing at Supersport United, while he needs to be 18 to move to the Netherlands.

Erasmus a hit in Germany

Amajita coach Serame Letsoaka on Monday arrived back in South Africa “a happy man”, as his youngsters impressed in Germany at the Mercedes-Benz Junior Cup.
Amajita participated in Stuttgart at the annuall five-a-side indoor under-19 tournament. On both days the indoor stadium, Sindelfinger Glaspalast, was packed with 5 000 spectators, who, as Letsoaka stressed, “became firm fans of our team.”

Amajita played six matches, winning four, drawing one, but lost in the quarterfinal against Croatia’s Dinamo Zagreb. Supersport United’s exciting 17-year-old striker, Kermit Erasmus, was selected as the Player of the Tournament. “It was a nice learning experience,” Erasmus modestly commented, before complaining about the “cold” in Germany.

He admitted having enjoyed playing in front of such “an enthusiastic crowd, whose support kept us warm.”

Scouts from Bundesliga outfit Vfb Stuttgart got so excited about Erasmus, who scored three goals, that they immediately wanted to sign the Matsatsantsa talent. However, the Port Elizabeth-born player has already signed a long-term deal with Dutch club Feyenoord Rotterdam, which starts in July.

There was more individual success for the South Africans, as goalkeeper Blessing Makhathini was voted Goalkeeper of the Tournament. Makhathini plays for Bright Stars in KwaZulu-Natal.

“We played good soccer and entertained the crowds,” Letsoaka reflected, “It was another step to gain experience for these youngsters on the road to building a strong squad to qualify for the next Olympics.”
