Well he had a failed stint with Rayo, and got Real Madrid Castilla to 6th place in the Segunda B, so nothing special there. He was European champion with the Spanish u-19 and u-21, which although not an amazing feat due to the overwhelming quality of the players, is still praise worthy. So he knows his way around young players, and our locker room is obviously spanish speaking so that shouldn't be a massive problem either. The problem with foreign managers in our league is that usually they have don't really know it. Here's hoping he learns fast though, and that all works out great. His agent is Jorge Mendes (who?what?impossible!), which might mean fresh cool signings, too. Time to prepare the next season. I'd be happy with just winning the title if we show signs of improvement and potential. The UCL can wait (H)

All I can say is that I'm glad this is fucking over, darkest season I've ever witnessed. Truly devastating shit for any avid FC Porto fan...

The Lopetegui choice was interesting, I have a good feeling about him and considering his background he should be able to take advantage of this batch of talented young players our youth teams are providing. The likes of Ivo, Gonçalo, Rafa, Tozé and even Mikel are diamonds in the rough that need to be carefully polished while being gradually integrated into the first team. I believe he might just be the right man to pull it off.

We should take advantage of the WC to get rid of Defour and Varela, also I hope Carlos*son has a good tournament and gets us and himself a good deal in the next transfer window.
Fernando, Mangala, and a couple of others are good as gone too, so we'll have invest in new players. DM, a couple of CBs and wingers, a creative AM plus a striker...it's gonna be an eventful summer :browsmiley:

Yeah well, this time I think there's no stopping him...I believe he already has a deal with Citeh. But you're right, we'll have to wait and see.

BTW our first transfer will be Ricardo, Académica's GK. Why? I have no fucking idea. Not an encouraging start I must say :(

I think Porto will need some major quality players and even if you get them, next season will be hard as hell.

I think its with this idea that Porto hired Lopetegui. A man who knows "nothing" about our league, seems good teaching young players, and is spanish. So in my opinion hes here to create a base layer within the team and get off in the next one.

If things turn out bad (elimination from the Champions League) he'll just disappear and no one will hear about him in Portugal. Thing that if it was a portuguese manager wouldt happen so soon.

Our GK purchase policy has always been messed up, don't worry :D

Yeah it's all over the news here. What do you know about him?

good striker, young, has alright technique, tall, decent speed. tends to miss easy goals but will score from the most impossible angles and in unconventional ways.

best if used as a true striker but can also be a good compliment to a striking partner.

might end up playing as a starter in the world cup with Mexico although that is still up in the air.

Way too inconsistent. Kinda like Carlos*son but worse. He'll score a stunner or two then fall off the face of the earth for a few weeks while missing several sitters here and there.

Evandro's father confirmed the deal, so I guess he's joining us. Classy midfielder, but kind of falls short on expectations...pretty sure he's just a small piece of a bigger puzzle though.

Right, I'm gonna go ahead and assume you never saw him play and have no idea about his general ability.
And considering our recent past, having a player that can actually score a penalty certainly can't hurt :(
Be we shouldn't pay more than say, 3M for him.
