History:

September 1893. Out of nothing, as a secret ambition unfolded by a tough and inflexible reality, FC Porto has been founded. António Nicolau d´Almeida, a fine sportsman and an expert Oporto Wine trader, invited, in the quality of F.C. Porto president, FC Lisbonense to a football match. It was the first appearance in a football match for the club, the most ancient page written in more than an hundred years of history.

Deep and insightful enthusiasm marked the years that followed F.C. Porto foundation. The goal of José Monteiro da Costa was to unite the efforts of the local community with the strong English representation in Oporto. This led to extinction of Grupo Recreativo "O Destino" in favour of F.C. Porto. It was the beginning of a solid structure.

The founders were men strongly determined to engender a symbol, a crest or an icon, in which future generations would have pride on. Their remarkable initiative is still remembered. Blue and white were the colours chosen, as meaning of pureness, calmness and stillness of mind. The colours were represented, at that early time, in the Portuguese flag.

FC Porto evolved its purposes to national and universal goals. In the first crest, the symbol
was, of course, a football ball with the FCP. initials. Twenty years later the Oporto city shield becomes a vital part of the FC Porto badge. In 1948, the 3-2 victory over Arsenal, at the time known as the best team in the world, was a proof of the blue and whites’ potential.

Over the years, FC Porto grew as the conquests were becoming bigger and as its purposes were becoming greater. The symbol of a region astounded the country and surprised the world. The 1980’s were one of the most memorable decades. In 1987 and 1988, FC Porto conquered the European Champions Cup, the Intercontinental Cup and the European Super Cup – an outstanding deed, a proof of the success of a special approach to sports. Few years later, F.C. Porto achieved a goal that no other club in Portugal dared to accomplish. Five championships in a row was a remarkable act, another great page in the clubs’ history.

Nowadays, the world changed and Portugal too has evolved. Sports reality is now more complex, but FC Porto remains at the top. The club remained winning and the dynamics persisted. FC Porto is now represented all over the country and all over the world.
The Centro de Treinos e Formação Desportiva PortoGaia and the Estádio do Dragão are modern infrastructures of world class. The future shines, as the club conquered the UEFA Cup, in the season 2002/03, the UEFA Champions League, in 2003/04, the Intercontinental Cup, in 2004, and the Europa League, in 2010/11. At the end of this last season, FC Porto became the most titled portuguese club.

Beyond the reality that surrounds football, F.C. Porto showed its greatness in other sports. The honours achieved speak for it. The club is also strong in basketball, handball, roller hockey, billiards, swimming, athletics, adapted sport, motorsports, boxing, camping, chess, fishing, karate and weightlifting. These teams contribute to this history of success and ensure the diversity and necessary involvement in the community’s well-being.​

Aboubakar will probably leave so we'll need to get a replacement, unless Nuno decides give a chance to Gonçalo Paciência who's doing a good job at the Olympics. André Silva is going to be our main striker anyway and Depoitre his first alternative.

Brahimi is a different case though because he's a class apart and we need to carefully plan his sale. He just doesn't seem motivated enough anymore so I'd rather have him gone, but not for less than big money. A decent replacement will be in order then, we need to get a really good winger to make up for the loss of a player as special as Yacine. Dispite all his faults, his talent is unique.
Otávio seems legit and Corona is set to have a kick-ass season so I'm not much worried...depth is always important though.

What we do need is a CB, Felipe is still adapting to European football and Marcano is no more than average so a commanding figure to lead our defense is a priority for me.
I've been wishing for Simon Kjaer to join for months now but still no luck not even a single little rumour in the press

So let's see how this goes. Expectations are always high for us, so I hope we get to our usual selves and start winning shit again. For starters we need get past Roma and reach the CL, it won't be easy but we simply need to get it done.

André Silva is a homegrown player and is going to be a starter for us, just missed the Euros because according to Fernando Santos he got into Porto's first team a bit too late. Our development system is doing pretty well thank you very much.

Benfica is far from being an example when it comes to lauching young players, Sanches was a drop in the ocean. They sold a few players a couple of seasons ago from their youth team to the likes of Monaco and Valencia only because Jorge Mendes was their agent, not because they were special. Out of like half a dozen players, only Bernardo Silva was actually any good.

The portuguese olympic team is loaded with FC Porto players, also our U17 and U19 team were portuguese champions this season. We're doing fine nowadays, TBH this wasn't the case close to a decade ago that's why had to buy so many foreign-based players throughout the years. Lucky for us our scouting was overall quite assertive...

The most important thing is to win stuff for a club like Porto, but it's always cooler to watch those wins featuring our own academy's gems.

Yeah forgot about Gomes, he's good. Played for us until he was 15 BTW, before eventually joining Benfica a couple of years later.

He's quite technical and tactically very aware. Reads the moments of the game well and is very useful in defensive transitions because of his immaculate placement. His passing I would say is his best skill though, very efficient from short and long range. He can easily occupy a box-to-box role but I believe he works better as a DM, playing alone in front of the CBs and distributing game. Not exactly an anchorman, but we have Danilo for that role anyway.
