I figured if that MLS-Chelsea match had a thread, this one deserved one too.

This match was incredible.

It ended 4-4. America was up 4-1 with a hat-trick from Nelson Cuevas, and in the final ten minutes Barça exploded to tie it up on the shoulders of Saviola and Ronaldinho.

Hopefully someone has the goals...

yes it was a great match to bad america couldnt hold up; its weird pipino cuevas is starting in the bench on the mexican league ;

The difference was made when America made changes giving a chance to their reserve players. Until then Barca was producing nothing.

Also the referee marked an inexistent penaltie.

I was surprised though, at how dirty the Barcelona defenders were playing.
Nelson Cuevas just got hammered out there. (N)

By the second half, America started to get its youngsters in the game, so it really wasn't like Barcelona did anything that great.
With Messi, Eto'o, Ronaldinho, Saviola, Gudjohnsen, Iniesta, Guily, Deco....
You would think that they would have a goalfest against the second division mexican players. (N) (N)


Disappointing.
All I can say about the "Tour".

They couldn't even win against "Maza" and our second division reserves. (N)

The Tour is mainly to make money and promote the Club in that part of the world.

I won't talk about these tours now, because I have a feeling that you don't know about these things that much.

You know, the players are not in full fitness. They had an exhausting season and they have only recently returned from their vacations, so what do you expect? You want them to fly around?

Don't oh please me.

And by the way, being three goals down seven minutes before the end, and ending the match in a draw... I would call that impressive.


Saviola isn't staying because
a) Rijkaard doesn't think he would fit in our system
b) his salary is too high for a bench warmer (this is also the most important reason)
c) The Club, as well as the majority of the fans, don't appreciate the way he has been making his transfer impossible. We want him out as it would ease our financial situation (we're in debt and can't pay a lot of money to someone who is third choice for his position), but he won't cooperate.

It was a great game, it was amazing to see Barca come back late in the second half (they could have won the game too with that Ronaldinho freekick at the end ) (Y)

I have to say that for a friendly, this was a great game. Halfway through the second half though, the word "friendly" went out the window. Hard tackles and complaints were more visible, but barca never gave up and show what they are made of. I know it's just a friendly so i won't even question barca's defense, but i will applaud them for giving a hell of a game. can't wait for the season to start. :ewan:

i saw saviola at the galleria (it's a shopping mall for those that haven't been to houston) yesterday. i left work during lunch because my co-workers were saying barca players were at the galleria.

saviola was at a jewelry store with like three females. took a picture of him walking out with my card...i asked him for an autograph along with about 10 other people...he just put his hand up and shook his head.

then the guy behind me says "typical argentinian.." haha

One of the greatest comebacks I have ever seen. Fantastic match. Cuevas has a great hat trick, but some how, some way, Barca's men came together and scored 3 in the last 10. Fantastic display. I actually ripped off my shirt and waved it in the air in celebration with Eto'o's "tie-er." :rockman:
