FA In A Sad State

Two players, Adebayor (Arsenal) and Keane (Tottenham) have both been wrongfully red carded this week. Both were appealed with compelling evidence yet both appeals were rejected!

So the FA backs there referees no matter how compelling the evidence is against there decisions? That's extremely sad because the referees now have no pressure on them to get calls right. Meaning they wont take care with the decisions they make.

What's the point of an appeal if the FA rejects them with no consideration?

Help?

The FA has a rule "The first decision is a final decision", the appeal part is just in there to make everything legit.

A joke? Even Lampard himself admitted Aebayor didn't punch him. And it was Eboue who punched Bridge. Funny because now they just suspended Eboue, so what is their explanation now? They can use video evidence to suspend players, but not to forgive errors by the referees?

Lampard Wasn't Punched – Agent

Lampard's agent Steven Kutner told BBC Sport: "I've spoken to Frank and he told me that he wasn't punched."

keanes hand ball deserved a red.

It wasn't a handball though, he had stopped the goal with his chest. I can see why the referee originally gave him a red card because it's hard to tell in the heat of action. The FA has video evidence, yet they don't take away the red card?

no, in the replay it clearly went off his upper arm. it was a tough break for keane as he really didn't know much about it, but by the book it was a clear cut red card.
as for ady's red: I didn't see the game, I don't know much about it.

Adebayor did his case no favours when he kicked off after the referee showed him the card - also IMO he was involved in the fracas. Lampard and Fabregas were the ones who inflated the situation and should both have followed him to the dressing rooms.

The FA have made a rod for their own backs in that they will not allow video evidence to overturn suspensions or punish blatant acts of violence or barefaced cheating. (Like Brown's lunge on Giggs or Thatcher on Mendes) Both of those were missed by the referee, but clearly were seen on video. If you murdered someone in a room with CCTV yet no-one was there to see you, would you expect to walk free in the face of video evidence?

Also IMO the FA needs to stop this "you can't critiscise officials" crap. If a striker misses a goal he can be verbally torn to shreds for failing to do his job. If you feel that an official is legitimately failing in his job then you should have the right to say so - allogations of cheating/collusion are of course different.

Finally the FA needs to be consistent and fair, I refer to the case of Rio Ferdinand and Christian Neguai (both were found guilty of "failing to comply with a drugs test") Neguai walked of with a £300K fine and a 3 game ban while Ferdinand (presumably because he was a bigger name to make an example of) was banned for 8 months (and Adrian Mutu only got 2 years for testing Positive for cocaine while Ferdinand had passed a drugs test only a day later)

Whether it's a 17 year old in the Conference, or a World superstar in the Premiership - punishments and sentences need to be consistent, and it's just not the case.

The whole system is stupid, its the same in Australia. You can be charged on video evidence, but you cannot be cleared.

The situation with tackles is stupid as well, tackles that are much more dangerous than a small push or shove, get little or no attention from the Fa. The same with diving, the FA should punish blatent divers if the referee misses it but they just leave it. As soon as there is a handbags situation they are all over it

The FA needs to get off its high horse and start admitting that its referees make mistakes. That is really the problem
