We've only got 12 days to go until Europe's biggest International tournament kicks off, and so here I am with the Prediction League. :D

I plan on using a basic scoring system:

* Predict the result perfectly right (win or draw with correct score) and you score 3 points.

* Predict the correct result, but not the score, and you will score only 1 point.

Example: Portugal 2-0 Turkey

You predict:
Portugal 2-0 Turkey = 3 points
3-1, 1-0, 2-1, 3-2, ect = 1 point
A draw = 0 points
Win for Turkey = 0 points

I won't be including multipliers for the later rounds, but to spice things up a bit I'll give 3 extra bonus points for correctly predicting the winners of the tournament and 3 more for correctly predicting which player will end up as the highest goal scorer. You can predict for the bonus points in this thread or the 1st Group matches thread (up on Saturday), but they have to be in before the first match kicks off. ;)


Schedule:
Matchday 1 - Posting 31/05
Matchday 2 - Posting 04/06
Matchday 3 - Posting 08/06
Quarter-Finals - Posting in 2 seperate threads (first on 16/06 after Group B games, and the second on 18/06 after Group D games)
Semi-Finals - Posting 22/06 (after last Q-F)
Final - Posting 26/06

You'll have plenty of time to predict for the group matches, but half a week for the knock-out rounds, but only because the tournament is played so close together!

In addition, I'll also make a seperate thread for the standings, which will be updated every few days. I think this will be much easier than updating in the predicting threads, as then you guys can keep track of how well you're doing without hunting around for the latest update! ;) It also fits well with a quick paced tournament.


nor-rbk won the Qualification PL for Euro 2008, but can he repeat his success this time, or will it be someone else!? ;)​

Bit of a gamble picking Torres as top scorer since Spain have to play one of the teams in the group of death in the 1st knockout round but meh.

Hey what do you guys think about this format? Obviously it won't be a format for this thread but my friends wanted to do one and I came up with that format. It's more laid back cos you just make your picks once instead of before every game. Maybe it could be a separate thread.

Prediction league rules

1.) Pick the winner (10 pts if they win the tournament, 6 if they finish second, 3 if they lose in the semi-finals)

2.) Pick ONE team to advance to the knock-out round from each group (3 pts if the team finishes first in the group, 1 pt if they finish second in the group).

3.) Pick TWO goalies (2 pts for each shutout/clean sheet one of your goalies gets. 1 pt for each game your goalies team wins, the goalie must play in the game)

4.) Pick EIGHT players (3 pts for each goal one of your players score. 1 pt for each game your player plays in which his team wins, he must play in the game)

5.) 8 bonus pts if one of your eight players gets the top scorer award for the tournament, 5 pts if they have the 2nd most goals in the tournament, 3 pts if they have the 3rd most goals, 1 pt if they have the 4th most goals.

For the scoring thing, wouldn't it just be easier to use the UEFA JVC Predictor? It's from here: http://en.predictor.euro2008.uefa.com/
It has the same purpose, pick the team to win/draw, amount of goals, player to score first I think.

Just in case you choose that JVC one, I made a league for it:

The whole point is to have a competition running at SG. But fantasy leagues are welcome as well, but let us just let Scimitar run this Euro PL his way. :)
