Indeed an excellent result for Scotland. You have really improved a lot since the last qualifiers! :p

yes well done, theres a part of me that feels we got robbed both games, the scottish team was the most defensive team we have faced throughout the elims.

i still can't believe we have raymondo at the helm, he has done everything a nt coach shouldnt do, including being the worst posible manager ever, he's the guy we win in spite of....

i knew this euro qualifiers were gonna be the doom of us right after the wc, and i wasn't wrong. it has been the toughest group ever, good luck to l'italie and the scots next year at euro 2008

There's no doubt France were unlucky, not only in losing at Hampden where Scotland scored about their only chance, but then lightning struck twice and they lose again to Scotland's only chance in Paris.

Scotland were defensive but realistically, what else can they do? The goal is to win. If you have players of sufficient abiltiy that you can win in style, then that is ideal, but the Scottish players are clearly less gifted than the French. Their only chance was to try to keep France out and nick a goal on the counter attack.

Looking at the remaining fixtures, I still feel France will qualify along with Italy. France will surely beat both Faroes and Lithuania and that just leaves a tricky game against Ukraine, but Ukraine will almost certainly have nothing to play for. Italy also will surely beat Faroes and Georgia which leaves Scotland probably needing to beat Italy at Hampden. It's not impossible but it's also not likely. I don't think they have ever beaten Italy...and Italy always qualify, one way or another.

But no matter what, Scotland have had a great campaign. I feared we would be struggling with Georgia and Lithuania for 4th spot. Instead, we are top of the group with only 3 matches remaining.
