I'm using the demo game files, so maybe your getting the UE error has something to do with using the full game files...?

Any edits to the db will require starting CM over, yes.

Yeah, I'm trying to edit the full game's database. Are you playing the demo still?

I'm confused as to why I'd be using the demo files at this point.

If you want to save your current career and keep playing, just copy and save the db you're using with your career, and reinstall that db any time you want to continue with your current career.

Could you explain this a bit more?

Let me give you an example of what I could see doing:

1. I start a Career with Chelsea. I edit their jersey font colors in the database. In the second year of my career, I want to edit their jersey font colors again. To do this, I'd break my Career save.

How can I make the change to jersey font colors once my career has started without breaking the save file?

So you've used DBM '12 to edit/save the FIFA '14 database? Great! DBM Fixer was apparently created to address something that was breaking with DBM '12 when people saved their FIFA '13 database with it.

Anyway...

With Creation Studio, I experienced the same thing as Munross here:

http://www.soccergaming.com/forums/showthread.php?t=187746

I load it and when I choose the FIFA '14 directory, it gives me that 'Unhandled Exception' error...he and Centre claimed they moved some database files around so that Creation Studio would work, but I'm not sure which exact files they moved and where they moved them.

Did you have to do any workarounds to get Creation Studio to work with FIFA '14? If so, what were they?

What I did was to make a copy/backup of my (default/un-modded) FIFA 14 folder & paste it somewhere else & renamed it say "FIFA 14 Modded"...I then copied over data3.big from FIFA 13 to the "FIFA 14 Modded" folder replacing the default one. After that when I open Creation Studio 13 it loads the FIFA 14 database without any problems, but now when you go to edit kits...it loads the kits, kitnumers & fonts from FIFA 13 (that means new kitnumbers like the ones Real Madrid uses in FIFA 14 wont be available to select) seeing as its data3.big is now being used. If that doesn't bother you, you can then proceed to copy the kit you edited in Creation Studio 13 from eg. FIFA 14 Modded\Game\data\sceneassets\kit to your default/original FIFA 14\Game\data\sceneassets\kit folder. You will also have to copy over your database file if you made changes like moving the numbers/fonts/badges around as those values are stored in the database. Or you could use DBM 12 to export & import the applicable tables between the "modded" & "original" database.

It seems that FIFA 14's data3.big is the only reason why Creation Studio 13 can't load a FIFA 14 database without any problems, when I replaced it with FIFA 13's data3.big it opens & loads a FIFA 14 database without any problems...

Don't think you can edit the file without starting over, I was just explaining how to save your current career in case you wanted to keep playing it while you edit the db.

You discover that? Great find!

Well I was able to transfer Ozil from Madrid to Arsenal without needing to start my career mode over. Editing kits/faces basically any graphics shouldn't "damage" your career mode, but adding new teams/players did "damage" my career mode...

Thanks, Munross!

I don't own FIFA '13 but I might buy it for the old kits...

Otherwise, I actually don't think I have need or interest in using Creation Studio as long as I can edit the FIFA '14 database with DBM '12...

Munross - Do you think I'll be okay with my Career save even if I edit the jersey font colors? Or, furthermore, will any edits I make to colors be reflected in the Career saves?

In other words, do Career Save files actually include a database? I would assume not...I'd assume that a Career save just points to the database.

I realize this thread is now "FIFA Editing for Dummies" but thanks for all your help, folks.

When using DBM '12 with my FIFA '14 database, how do I save my edited database to prevent errors with FIFA '14.

Is there anything particular I need to do? Just save my work and regen?

I have the Bernd's FHL-BH-Editor. Do I just save and regen with that tool, then re-load FIFA?

Maybe a fellow modder can upload you FIFA 13's data3.big file? I would have if I could, but it could take me a few days & it would not be cheap seeing as Mobile Broadband 3G internet in South Africa very slow but very expensive! The file is around 1.5gb:|

I think the best would be for you to test it yourself...Start a new career & play a few games, then make a backup of your database. Edit the kit fonts/colors ect and save, check ingame if your career continues & if the edited kits are loaded.

In other words, do Career Save files actually include a database? I would assume not...I'd assume that a Career save just points to the database.

No worries, dude. I'm just gonna buy FIFA '13.

So I'm assuming you have no experience using DBM '12?

I just want to get a quick tutorial on how to save an edited database.

There are threads from last year and the year before explaining how to use these tools. Check the FIFA 13 and FIFA 12 forums.

OK! Thank you, but maybe other people help me with my problem DB?

You are asking people to explain how to use DBM 12. That's different than discussions about fixing specific problems people are having with it. If you want to know what these tools are, what they do and how they work, then download them and try them out. And read the various threads, there's a thread devoted to DBM 12 for example. All of this has been explained before many times, but it sounds to me like you want someone to explain it again so you don't have to search for the info yourself. Here's a link to Creation Studio, download and start playing around wth it:

Has anyone been able to add a team using Creation Studio yet? I can get it to load, edit existing teams etc, but when I add a new team and try to save I get this error:

Many of the db tables are the same this year, but one exception is the teams table which has two new columns of values. That could be the reason you can't use CS 13 to create teams in 14.

Cheers bro. I actually found a work around.

What I did was export the table as .txt file in DB master, copied and pasted an existing team and changed the relevant information in .txt (team ID, name etc). Saved and imported back and it seemed to work ok! I've opened it up in creation studio and my team is there! Added the extra information and it seemed to save OK so I'm gonna see if I can add to a league and get it work in game!
