one thing though, if I was a Dubai citizen, I wouldnt be THAT proud. almost all their architecture and engineering and stuff come from foreigners.

Arabs are super lazy. This is because over there, you dont even need to work and the government gives you money because they have too much oil and are too rich.

So if Arabs work, they only want to work jobs with very, very high pay.

but I respect how they use their money though, at least they want to move forward. other Arab countries.. well.. meh.

pretty nice eh?

the city looks stunning.
they just want the worlds best everything huh?,cant settle for second best. They want the worlds tallest building which is way bigger than the last tallest building.
They want the worlds largest waterfront development which you are able to see from the moon and the world islands are ridicolously expensive and its amazing how its the islands are going to be arranged in the shape of the present world.
Worlds Tallest Hotel which will be the only 7 star hotel?and the most luxurious, thats also on an island.
Also the first underwater hotel.
Also Dubailand(insaneee)twice the size of Walt Disney World Resort. Their expecting 200,000 visitors daily.
And Dubai Sports City, huge collection of sports arena.
Also the largest shopping mall in the world.
A few more things I forgot but I have to say that their going all in with this.

It's smart of them trying to become a tourist destination.

They realize that oil isn't forever.

I've been to Dubai, it was only for a day as a stop over on a flight to Kenya, but they put everyone up in a really nice hotel with really great food, free of charge. Apparantly they do this alot to endear people to the city and make them want to come back as tourists. Anyway, I didnt get to see much of it, but it really is quite stunning. Only problem is that arabic is the harshest sounding language ever. I had a bad cough and hawked up a chunk of lung in the morning and accidently summoned a taxi to the airport.

Help?

A friend of mine went there for Christmas. People get paid there double salaries than what they would normally make and its like all tax-free! And if you are canadian you know that you pay federal tax, provincial tax and then the extra tax on the provincial tax, which could all add up to 45% of your revenue.

Also people there drive cars like Lamborginis and Ferraris and if it breaks down on a highway, they just leave it and buy a new one because it would cost too much to tow it and repair it.

The only problem is that they have all these wonderful constructions planned, but they are going way off-schedule. I think that island in a shape of a palm tree was supposed to be done already and like Beckham and Gary Neville bought houses there 5 years ago.

I just saw a program the other day about houses in Dubai, and they mentioned that the country has some strict Islamic laws, such as filters on internet sites containing porn and gambling and stuff like that. Dont know about their laws in other areas.

Perhaps I should look into some PR work over there! Looks like those futuristic cities you see in the movies! First Class architecture. No doubt it'll be the most stunning city in the world in that respect. I heard that Mr. Beckham bought on eof those islands...

Hi, all. just seen this topic and had to respond. I understand that most of you here are below the age of 18 and don’t have a well developed logic system, so it is up to me to explain to you what’s really is going on.

First of all money does not grow on trees. The Arabs are getting all of their crazy money from other people’ pockets by selling oil. Oil would not produce a dime, if there would be no demand for it. there is nothing wrong with the demand, but clearly the scales of profit in oil market are off. While most of people are complaining that they pay too much for oil, the Arabs on the other hand have no taxes and drive Ferraris. Make oil cheaper!!! This will solve these inequality!!!

Oil could be gone from the market in a year if alternative energy sources would be introduced. And believe me these alternatives exist and for a long time already. Why oil is still protected I don’t know. I guess some deal was made between the US and Arabs, but it is clear that Arabs getting way more out from this deal. If one day the alternative energy sources would be introduced, in a short time all this oil countries will be in a big assen situation. They have nothing there... sand and oil. They would die out in there.

I know that most of the above will be hard to digest for some of you kids, but you need to try.
