This is something I've been trying to do although it's hard without face/hair making skills. It's important to have one good head model which can be used with hair and bald as well, and fit all hair versions on top of it.
For me the best version has been thie one by @Mr. Nobody, since he used PES scanned face as a base. But when bald it has a spiked head, doesn't look too good. So I use another head model for bald Beckham (like 2001)
@ballinham was also awesome enough to edit out neck tattoos, convert Beckham's arm tattoos from PES and make different era versions of it (mimimal tattoos, medium, all inked up)
It would be great to have a bald version of that texture too actually.Also I'd still be really interested to see people like @Pillowbiter @afwan @RALE @Lagwagon93 take a try at Becks the legend though.
And curious to see what @Telega12 has come up with too.

Well in any case I think it looks very decent. This reconstruction looks very good too, would be curious to see some ingame screenshots and compare. Especialy with the 'oldest' scanned texture from PES.

Would be awesome to see young/prime/veteran hairstyles for Cristiano Ronaldo as well!
I've done some trials with 2008 hair already, I think it looked decent:
Another awesome addition would be Drogba long hair (pre 2009 ponytail)
The best I've come up with has been this generic one.
Sergio Ramos using long hair (pre 2012) (fitted to latest Pillowbiter head model)
And his World Cup 2018 look (buzz cut with some beard)
Petr Cech with hair (pre 2006), that would need some texture work since his FIFA texture seems to have helmet shadows
Different versions of Messi and Ibrahimovic should be fitted to latest Pillowbiter head model)
Ibrahimovic long hair (2000s) and shaven (requires face texture edit)
And with all hair edits I strongly believe that we should use latest fifa 17-19 face and hair textures/models because they are of much huigher quakity than default fifa 14's
