Do the tactics make that much difference?

Ive tried changing tactics. Alomost everything apart from offside off makes little noticeable difference. I'm winning and dont want all the midfield chargeing forward. I change to 442, defensive, contain. As soon as the ball breaks I have 2 defenders against 4 attackers. Its ****e. Why do my full backs always run to the midfeilder with the ball when I have a midfeilder already pressing and leave their man. Its ****e. Why when I am tracking the winger to put him under pressure then a fraction before he crosses my full back flinches allowing him to cross. Why when I do a slide block tackle the CPU changes direction I imput on my controller (as it sometimes does with passes) so I foul and even give away penalties. Is it ****e?
You guessed, yes it is. Small improvements over the last ****e, but ****e nonetheless.
