disabling onboard sound. help!

i want to disable my onboard sound but i can't seem to find the right information on the net. i found my mobo information from the bootup screen but i'm not sure what i'm supposed to do now. i just recently bought a sound blaster live digital 5.1 and i installed it but only the front two speakers work and there's a faint buzzing sound in the rear two speakers. i still have some non-creative devices in the device manager and i want to un-install all onboard sound but i'm afraid i'm gonna do something wrong. i entered bios and i disabled ac97 onboard sound in 'integrated peripherals' but i heard i need to disable another option in bios(?) can anyone help me, pretty please?

my mainboard manufacturer is HOLCO shuttle.
model: VT8366-8233
system bios: 01/09/2002-VT8366-8233-6A6LVH29C-00
chipset: (AK31520J) VIA KT266 VT 8366+V8233

1 ) Remove your Soundblaster live 5.1 and onboard sound drivers from add/remove, then power down the computer and remove the SB Live card from the machine.

2 ) Now also disable your onboard sound in the Bios. To do this, goto your Bios and navigate to the sound options and u will see Onboard Sound Enabled. Disable it.

3) Install the SB Live again, and let your system find it. Then install the drivers and you should be good to go.
