Okay, people usually say "everything happens for a reason" in order to attribute something to "God's will", without ever seeking out the actual causes and how to fix them so it does not happen again. Maybe the person isn't openly or traditionally religious, but they'll still say it with effectively the same conviction because they believe in karma or something else stupid.

If you said it to mean "this happened because of all these problems in Brazil that we need to fix" then I have no problem with it and agree.
