Cross Modifier

can anyone explain to me what the cross modifier is and how to use it? i keep trying but i can never get a goal from a cross, my player either takes a silly shot with the cross or they put it straight to a defender, only goals i manage to get are completely uncontrolled just pass it around get as close to goal as i can and shoot :/ btw im talking about the thing that puts numbered circles on ur players im jsut guessing thats called the cross modifier because the loading screen tells u about it.

The thing that puts numbers on people works pretty efficiently. When you press the button, one of the three numbers will be sort of blinking, that's the guy you're passing it to (1). If you press that button again it will pick one of the other numbers (2 or 3). If you press shoot, lob, or through pass, the ball goes to that guy. It works pretty well on long balls if you select one of your forwards with that and press shoot, it goes to them. I don't think that's the cross modifier though, not sure. I just cross by holding L2 and pressing down L1 for forward crosses and just the normal lob for paralell ones.

thanks that helped sooo much, finally got a cross to go where i want do u know what the key called modifier does? ive tried pressing it with and without the ball but i cant see anything happen, only thing i could think of was something to do with curling the ball but i got no clue how that would work. also theres a key called player run or something that does nothing as far as i know

the CALL DEFENDER button is used when defending to call a second defender to the ball - Good for closing off the atacker.

the PLAYER RUN button is for when you are attacking and about to pass to a striker - press player run (look for the player who runs past his defender with his hand up "kick it to me..") then pass to that player. It's good for giving your striker a little more room to shoot.

ohh cool thanks, it doesnt say anything about the call defender key tho, whats default key for that?

i find, as i did with Fifa 2004, that off the ball is a bad way of crossing. why? because your guy will barely ever take it on the run. he'll stop, chest the ball down, and get stripped by a defender.
the best way for scoring on crosses i find is to just aim the cross and let er rip... i've scored a couple diving headers this way. With off the ball, i never get diving headers for some reason.
The crosses have been greatly improved in Euro 2004.

i found out that W+D is to cross in, tho i think it should auto aim to the penalty area a bit... if ur just a little too far back for a perfect cross and u cant get any further it goes straight across the pitch or if u use diag then itll go over the goal is hard to get a good cross in unless u get ur player a long way towards the corner.

anyone have any small tips? everyone keeps saying how easy the game is even on world class but im still struggling on semi pro

there are many hidden moves in euro.Try using different button combinations.I learn almost all of the hidden stuffs.If u wanna know more go online and find this guy called Virtual Anamoly

no i dont mean like hidden moves, i know quite a few already but i never use them they just complicate things, i just want to get better at the game coz i suck lol. is there any good tactics for scoring? like how to get one of ur strikers to break off and make a 1 on 1 run at their keeper, or how to get the ball in good position to cross it in, i always get stuck with the ball just outside their area and the only goals i get are from corners

i find i just keep passing around the box until i get a clear shot on goal. I also try to cross to the 'remote receiver' but that seems more luck than anything. I've had a few nice breakaways playing with ENG and the trick moves sure do come in handy to beat the last defender.

Man i'm really digging this game compared to Fifa04

i just cant work out how people play world class, im only on semi pro and i just played a match against france with england had about 5 1on1s with barthez and he saved every single one, also a few other beautiful shots that should have gone in, was lucky i scored 3 goals from corners to win the game lol

Exactly! I rarely ever use the 'off the ball' control when crossing into the box - it's too predictable and mechanical and I think it takes a lot away from the game.

I think using the lob button works much better and the flow of play is much more exciting. Once I pulled off my first diving header I was easily converted.

The only thing I use off the ball for is clearing the ball out of the defense - usually the 1st "receiver" is open around midfield and you can escape danger.

they should do away with the off the ball control...it's really a waste of a button that could be used for a better feature.
