m3th0d

Starting XI
okay this semester i'm taking middle east history and we have like this big in-class presentation that's coming up in a few days and my topic is "Discuss the Crime and Punishment in the 19th century Middle East. What punishment went with what crimes? Were the punishment more or less severe than current Middle Eastern legal codes?"..

i looked all over google but i couldn't really find any reliable sources so i'm asking you people. i think some of you might be able to help me out.

thanks

Actually these are only applied in Saudi Arabia.
and before you start talking about it, try to think of the reasons behind these laws.

I remember seeing a vid on the net of people being stoned to death in Saudi Arabia, they were tied up and wrapped in white sheets, then buried up to their waists. A big crowd that surrounded them then started throwing rocks which actually looked more like big jagged chunks of concrete. After about a minute the white sheets were all torn and it was a bloody mess.

I don't care what your religion or value system is, it was pretty disgusting and barbaric...

OK, here`s what happens some years ago here in an area that`s said to apply Islam`s law :
A wife/husband who got got cought cheating on her.his spouse will be punished by :
- Burrying them up until the neck ( means, only your head is part of your body that is not burried ).
- And an Imam will pray a prayer for the guilty sinner.
- The Imam will then walk away. The sinner then be told to shout "Allahu Akbar", and as he shouts it, the people surrounds him will be throwing stones to his head until he can`t no longer shouts "Allahu Akbar".

I don`t know wheter this kind of inhuman punishment is also applied in other Islam countries.

Nope, that's pretty much against the human rights...It happens only in Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan (under Taliban's rule).

The Saudis seem to understand Islam the wrong way...Islam has given people the freedom to do whatever they want but to some extent. Even if a muslim sins, he gets what he deserves on the judgement day.

I think it's so wrong to play the role of God.
Let me tell you of another law that's applied in Saudi Arabia...you can't walk in shorts...hehehe

Is that true ? Cos` I always think that Saudi Arabia is one of the most tolerant and moderate Islam country. They got strip clubs and all other western culture stuffs

most tolerant and moderate Islamic country? NEVER
got strip clubs and other Western culture stuff? NEVER ...If that's the case, then half of their laws would become invalid.
