controller settings won't save

Hi,
In PES 2008 I have changed the controller settings so that some of the buttons change around and also so that it says the player name rather than the number '2'. However, every time I load the game the settings go back to the defaults even though I saved them after I made the changes. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
