yup, as soon as they turn 17 ou can sign them up on their first proffesional contract.
However if they are past a certain age, 25 i think, or if they have played less than a certain number of games and then reject a contract offer you give them their contract can become unprotected again....i think... :)
You'd still get compenstation unless it was in the last 6 months tho.

btw, Trod, cool sig :rockman:
You know you can get a funky t-shirt from this website: http://www.hottopic.com/store/product.asp?LS=0&ITEM=267795

As far as i can tell its pretty big in size but they had another one, with a better (in colour) pic of the mushy a few weeks ago in all sizes. CGuess they have sold out of that one for the time being but if your interested keep an eye out!! :)

When the player has 6 months left on his contract he become un protected, which meanshe can talk to other clubs but cannot move till his contract has been finished normally around the 1st of July

a contract of a player under 28 will get unprotected after 3 years, a contract of a player over 28 will get unprotected after 2 years.

so let's say player x, who is 24 years old, signed a contract from july 2005-july 2009. His contract will get unprotected july 2008.

In 2010 player x signs a new contract, he's now 29, the contract lasts 4 years, but it will get unprotected in 2012

Just thought I'dd add it.

For guys like those you'll need to pay compensation equal to their current value, if you sign them before the end of their contract. They don't come over for free if they have a valid, yet unprotected, contract.
