[CM4/CM03-04]the regen, do they exist? A big question.

I hear talking about regens very much. There's always very much speculation about who is a regen. I even believed it, but does the regen (from another player) exist in CM4/CM03-04?

I have come to the answer that they don't. How I come to know this is simply to look at (big) players retiring and checking out if there appeared someone with same potential, position, nationality. The 2 players I take in this example are Nedved and Zidane. You should say their regens will be easy to find if they exist. More than 4 years after their retirments as football player there still isn't a player with same potential etc.

An argument to prove their existince would be that you don't get a regen until the manager Zidane or Nedved has retired, but in my game Nedved completly retired from football (He didn't become a coach).

So in my opinion the regen doesn't exist and the ''regens'' just have random potential, position and nationality.

Quite possible that the potentials are somewhat random, but not entirely. The game would go strange if that was the case. Afghanistan becoming the world champions and stuff.
But a 190 potential player becoming a 200 or 180 potential player could be true.

Positions and nationalities will be fixed, as it otherwise would be impossible to guarantee national teams will have enough players in the different positions.

no the thing is, not all players who retire become regens, but a select few do in my opinion

However its a very interesting point cody

All players will have regens, otherwise the database would get smaller each year. The youths you get from your academy are all regens, just most from unknown crap random players.

no, i dont believe all regens are perfect regens

i think sometimes the game creates regens but not ones that are perfect to the player they replace - so to give a little bit of difference

however i think it still creates regens as we know them aswell

Maybe it's true their potential is not exactly the same of the players, but this would make a regen not what we all thought. We all thought an exact copy, which they then wouldn't be.

Oh, and btw, corrected some grammar, spelling and typing mistakes in my first post

Nice to have good english on the forums :)

I have 6 class youngsters in my youth team, 3 Finns and 3 Italians, but they can't be regens as no-one has retired. (no-one with a big potential, and how many Finnish players in the game have 189, 194 and 199 potential?) I think this backs up the first post, I have never seen a "real" regen, but have always believed in them. (sounds like ghosts or something!)

Sorry guys but i hear you talk about regens and potential etc. so much that i was wondering where i could download like cm scout or whatever you use for cm 03/04 to find it. Im not new to Cm im just new to the regens and potential ability.

Read my first post, realise your posting this in the wrong thread. How on earth can you think of posting how you can find a persons regen in a thread which says regens don't exist.

cos thats irony cody.

Basically you would have had to find out Figos potnetial ON YOUR GAME before he reitred, then typed in that exact potential - with that look for AM RLC from Portugal and bingo.

thats IF regens exist of course in that 'sense'

Usually they are worth it. In one of my games i've found a defender called Etxarri from Spain, he was 15 years old and had almost 190 potential. Maybe he was Hierro's regen or something.

well, i CM gives all players slightly random potentials, ALL players, even if it is by just a few ability points.

E.g. if Figo has 190 potential and he retires, in CMScout have ability between 185 - 195, age under 17 and portugal for nationality

that would cover it.... again, IF regens like that exist.

People are saying that the regens don't have exactly the same potential. I can encounter this with the Zidane and Nedved example again. He had a potential of 194. Which means his regens potential would be 180+

Ironically enough this is the results of CMscout, where I filtered it out to french attacking midfielder central. As you can see noone has a potential of 180+ or higher exept Le Tallec and Kapo, which obviously aren't regens. If the Zidane regen would have less than 180 potential then the regens we are all talking of are just bull****, cause they are nothing close to their players where they are regenerated from. The same thing is with Neved, the only attacking midfielder with high potential is Rosicky.

The only thing that could mean regens exist is that Zidanes and Nedveds regen already retired after 5 years of football. I don't think so.
