From Eidos' website:

Q22. Can CM3 be run on Windows XP?
A22. Yes, but you must have the latest patch: ftp://ftp.sigames.com/official/CM 3/cm304e.exe

Here's another thing I've found, but it sounds a bit shaky :S:

from CoreFM forums:
Install the act20.exe file found on the Windows XP disc in the folder \Support\Tools.

Then to get your CM3 game running you have to:
- open QFixApp
- on Layers select ProfilesSetup
- on Fixes check GlobalMemoryStatusLie (leave the rest as they were)
- now from the browse button choose your CM3 exe (i.e. cm0001.exe
- click on Run.. button

To play the game after this time just click your link as usual, it is saved on the computer.

You will need to run this for every CM3 game that you want to play, however there have been some problems with the original CM3 game, so Im not that sure it will work.

Go back to Win98?

I divided my HDD into two partitions and installed Win98 on one and WinXP on the other. Just so I could keep playing CM 01/02. Unfortunately my HDD is too small to keep my anime collection AND keep a seperate FAT partition nowadays, so CM had to go. :(

right-click the CM3 icon and go to properties. then go to compatibility. choose "run this program in compatibility mode for: windows 98/ windows ME". Works fine in this way on Windows XP. Good luck

So did I on my first XP install, but after a reinstall it didn't work anymore. Compatibility mode didn't help.

Haven't tried on my last two PCs.
