Help?

It seems that none of you mentioned the name of the player that scored the Champions League final winning spot kick.

newbie original

We apologize for keeping the yellow too long
Yellow Card
Ryan Giggis Ryan Giggs ruining down the wing....

Yes, he scores in EPL decider, then scores in CL decider.

Ferguson now has 21 titles in 21 seasons at ManU. Oh the stats are all lined up perfectly whenever United win anything.

van der Sar's save was the what that decided the shootout. The goalkeepers get the glory.

Anyway, I read somewhere that a team whose goalkeeper wears green will always win the shootout.

IMO, here are the key moments of the shoot-out :
- Terry's slip, had he not slip, Chelsea would've won, that's why he looked more devastated than Anelka.
- Nani's success in the sudden death penalty shoot out, simply because he was the least experienced penalty taker. I mean he was like 19 or 20. And Cech dived the right way, had Nani kicked the ball with less power it was a save and the end result would've been different.
- Ryan Giggs kept his cool and it was clear he was not under any pressure at all due to that massive experience of stepping up big time whenever needed. Anyone who said he should've hung up his boots last season can shut the **** up now. Experience can always bring something good, especially to a young squad like United.
- Finally, van der Sar magnificent save.

Everyone was a hero, but Nani, Giggs and VdS were clearly the main actor for the success.

Ronaldo has finally proved that he is the best footballet in the world now by performing in the biggest stage of them all(excluding the world cup final).......he was brilliant throughout the match......

Even if we had lost because of our match it would not have made a differnece for us,United fans,as he has given more than enoough this season for us......IMO We should sell him to Real Madrid in 2010 for 80-100 Million pounds if they bid......

Winning the double is splendid for me as as United fan and to win it against Chelsea is even better........Next Season will be tougher than this season(yes, even this season).....

Pede......What was the cost of a ticket?Equivalent to the price of a season ticket?
And yes, I always thought you should'nt be travelling much in this old age....but by travelling so much(to a place like Moscow) you put yourself in your danger.......hehe

Cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you don't mind me saying so, the only thing Ronaldo did was making that header.
And he almost cost Man Utd the cup by completly failing on that fake for Cech after which he missed an almost crucial penalty.

The whole trip cost me £600, but you are right man, I might be getting a bit old for this travelling away lark. The trip completely knackered me I must admit. Still, it had to be done and I was lucky that I could afford to go in the first place.

Actually Moscow was very cool. Fans mixed together like never before. The police and army were mostly young lads who were as relieved as I was that the general atmosphere was very friendly. I had a little look around the City. I didn't have a lot of time but I made it to Red Square which was a sight to see. I met plenty of Russians who were really friendly, and used us to practice their English. Yeah it was a great experience all in all. I'll definately go back for a holiday sometime.

I just hope that next time we are in the Final (08/09???), it will be a little closer to home.

So Terry is still a hero but Ronaldo is a failure because he missed his as well? Anyone can miss a penalty and it doesn't make you any less of a soccer player if you do. Plus he set up a lot of opportunities especially in the first half. Watch the game again.

You sound like those Sky Sports commentators. "Ronaldo is absolutely useless and didn't do anything in the whole season except score 42 goals."

actually, i was very impressed with ronaldo in the first half. i thought he was playing very intelligently, coordinating attacks well and making good movement off the ball. just because you aren't shooting the ball doesn't mean you're being unproductive...

Oh how predictable. The Man Utd fans get all wet when someone vents a little critism on Ronaldo.

I have the utmost respect for how he played this season and without him I think they wouldn't have gotten to the final and wouldn't have won the league, but he just didn't get noticed in the final(except for one header and one penalty he missed). Get over it.

Concerning the penalty; Terry just had sheer bad luck with his penalty miss, if he hadn't slipped away you would still be crying now. Ronaldo on the other hand just completly failed in trying to lure Cech to choose a side. Cech kept his feet after which all momentum was lost and he than went on to miss the penalty that almost cost you the cup.

Don't get me wrong though, I'm not a Chelsea fan or anything. As I said earlier I'm happy for Van der Sar that he won the cup for you. I'm just getting sick and tired of Ronaldo with all the world's semen on his face.

a typical ronaldo-hater's comment. "yea he scored...thats it". go watch the bloody game again for god's sake. he did more than just score. I know its hard to swallow but accept it like a man. Ronaldo is the best in the world at the moment.

Oh please! I'm not hating on Ronaldo, ofcourse he's the best in the world at the moment scoring 42 goals in about as many games together with a bunch of assists in the toughest leagues and cups in the world only a true world-class player can do. I'm just saying I didn't notice him in the final except for those two incidents, that's all. No need to get all heated up. You'll just have to accept that, although much, not everything Ronaldo touches turns into gold. It doesn't make his performance this season any less incredible though, it's just that you shouldn't overhype everything that he does as though he's the next best thing to God. I mean it wouldn't surprise me if the next time he goes to the toilet people start to praise him on how well he urinates.

Yeah, but Anderson got a great character, while Nani, you know... kinda immature and emotional sometimes, I think that he still carried the biggest burden in that shoot out, just look at his face before and after the penalty, he looked so stressed....
