Snowed pretty lightly but all day in Canada and now the snow is blowing around like crazy. We got a bit of ice on the sidewalks so I gotta be careful walking home from school now but anyways...

The Guardian is saying that Mourinho is interested in Kompany and ready to launch a bid. I have to say that he'd be an upgrade from Huth. We should keep Huth though, maybe loan him out to Villa or a German club. Kompany should be a blue some day though.

Fat Frank getting another cracker of a goal from the spot on his record setting 160th appearance in a row which put us up to a 2-0 win. Crespo also getting one in with Gudjonssson as a strike partner although he was playing as an AM which I don't like since he's a bit better when he's a forward. Where's Drogba anyways?

So remember that supposed recent crisis? Well, the blues no longer hear the music.

watched the game since it gave on tv these are my thoughts

joe cole- i think he was your guys best player, guy took a beating

cech- made a great save in the first half, but his kicking was really :sb9:

also that was 1 heck of a shot by paulo that got tipped in by crespo

gudjohnsen played bad IMO

Thats about right mate.Eidur didn't have his best game today but we will forgive him for that.Joe Cole was abused all day but his footwork was so fast that defenders could not help but mistime their tackles. He had a great game today.Pompey left 9 men in their own half most of the game so it was a wonder we broke them down at all.Fantastic poachers goal from Crespo and a good penalty from Frank.Terry was awesome as usual.Duffer had an off day too,but it aint easy when 2 men mark you i guess.Cech played well but as you say,his kicking was a bit poor.I thought the ref was really fair and in control and let players off the hook until the tackles began to get silly. Then the book came out and Pompey were lucky to finish the game with 11 men.
Still another 3 points nearer the title, thats the important thing. :)

Amen, substance over style when it comes to facing sides that dig in against us.

Im thankful for the match reports, boys, as I didnt get to see even a minute of it. But games where everyone is expecting you to roll the opposition like people were today can always be tricky (see Everton last month)

I am ELATED to see Guddy getting minutes, and Crespo scoring can only be a good thing. I say we let him run with his current form until he goes cold, but apparrently he came off today hobbling and was replaced by Carlton in the first half. Does anyone know if this is a long term thing, or what? Christ, what a blow that would be for him considering his last few games. Anyway, I think all this media BS about him being unsettled and leaving in January has been well debunked by how he has responded. Now if only Robben could start putting it together...

Anyway, Frank has the record, so finally the ironman can be rested a game here or there without difficulty, but I doubt if he will assent to that. Any word on how the new, modified backline went (JT+Carvalho+Billy+Del/Paulo)? I dont know why Bridgey was left out in that situation, today, but I guess Riccy earned his spot after the game he had in Brussels and given that, billy and jt are indespensibles.

Great to see, also, that Cech is back to his best (heard he had to save a cracker from Lua-Lua today) and that the lack of mak (heh) isnt hurting us too bad.

Another 3 points, and carefree, as always

Statement on Hasselbaink claims

Statement on Hasselbaink claims
Sunday, Nov 27, 2005
Chelsea has the following statement after confirmation from the Premier League that it will investigate claims by Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink that players were paid an unscheduled bonus after the Champions League quarter final against Arsenal in 2004.

The statement says: Chelsea has already made it publicly clear on two occasions that it has not made any payments to players in breach of Football Association or Premier League regulations. The club stands by those statements totally.

Moreover, two weeks ago Chelsea invited the Premier League to look at any relevant documentation on this issue before any investigation was considered. The Premier League has not taken up that invitation.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has made false statements that potentially bring the game, and Chelsea, into disrepute. These should be investigated fully, and not Chelsea.

I think the kit is like a sky/powder blue with a navy trim. Most Chelsea fans hate it and refuse to buy it.

And for the record, I knew the backlines composition, I was just asking if they looked solid, or more to the point, did Billy look out of place and did Carvalho screw anything up?

Hasselbaink needs to be clued into the fact that nobody cares about what he says.

i got time so ill just post my thoughts on each player

Cech- didnt face much shots but when they came he saved them well (especailly one on lualua, but his kicking was horrible)

ferrira- had a rocket shot on the crespo tip in and LuaLua did get by him a few times to easily

Terry- Steller As Always

carvalho.. he did great IMO nothing messed up some important blocks.. but missed a great header chance once

gallas- played well they hardly attacked on his side though so didnt face much

Joe cole- definatlly the man of the match was getting tripped almost every possesion, just blowing pass defenders, made the penalty for chelsea

essien- great great pickup by mourinho didnt know what he was thinking getting him since they had makelele but im telling u when makelele retires i think this guy will be better

lampard- wasnt really in the game actualyl but had some nice long passes, he looks kinda nervous on the penalty but he burried it calmly

duff- kinda quiet today actually

gudjohnsen- horrible game, hold the ball to long and lost the ball

crespo- class finish on the ferrira shot, but he got injured around the 40th minutes

i gotta say i like the away kit.It looks cool IMO.You know,Ricci does some risky stuff sometimes.Today ,a pompey player got booked for rushing out from the wall before Lamps had kicked the ball. When i watched the replays,Ricci actually shoved the guy forward but the ref missed it.He sure has some sneaky moves up his sleeve. His elbows seem to fly out too much for me as well.Too risky that is and we could pay the price on another day.Billy sure dont like playing left back thats for sure.He had a solid game but just didn't look happy.
By the way,Jimmy was interviewed last wekend and was asked about the payments thing. He said then that it was all bulls.h.i.t.and they never were made.

As for Crespo's injury, this is what Jose said after the game

“It could be his back, his ribs, his leg, anything. We are not sure yet. We have Didier Drogba and Claude Makelele out injured but Carlton Cole came on as a substitute and did well for us.”

Congrats to Chelsea again for the win...

A minute of silence for George Best...a true footballer..........................................

And...what can i say about Hernan...i didnt watch the game...i have a rough night...Pearl Jam concert...you know...but Hernan scored again...who would say it...to all the Hernan haters out there....he is 70% of his form...but he still scores important goals...

He will put Chelsea in the finals of the Champions League against Barcelona...and in that final he will score 2 golas...but Messi coud score or assist 2 goals to Etoo...

TBB, Hasselbaink is a good man.

What's wrong with "unschedueled" bonuses anyway? I love them but never seem to be on the receiving end of them :(

It's called a VCR or TIVO Axelote. I didn't see the game live either, I had an early afternoon hockey game with my team (we won 4-2), I only saw the first half and recorded the rest.

What's funny is everyone like Ferguson and the Arses saying they can still catch us, good luck with that to them.

TheBlueBalla

Starting XI
I dont know if they will catch us: you never know with a game in hand and head-to-head matches coming up, but 10 points is 10 points. As rob said anyone would take the points over a game or two left to play.

Im still waiting about word on Crepso, but Im thinking if nothing has come out by this point it was a whole lot of nothing. Thank god, too, because he has been blinding for us recently.

us.”
personally, Pete, i dont mind the kit all that much either. Dunno why so many dislike it, though

About Carvalho, I think you are dead right. He is a "tough" player to us but he is probably "dirty" to everyone else. The kind of guy you love to have on your team and love to hate when hes playing against you. However, irrespective of his sneaky little tricks here and there, Riccy plays 100% every tackle and minute of the game, and he goes in full blooded when he makes a challenge. It may come off as reckless to some but to me its heart.

He may not get us that far, but I think he will be integral in the Champions Leauge this year. Drogba can get one dimensional and can be neutralized by a world class defense. Crespo and a shifty Gudjohnsen can alter the look of the size and have both aerial ability and pace, skill, finish, and all the rest thats needed to beat a well organized backline. Drogba is fine for running over the likes of a relegation straggler...and liverpool :lui: but Crespo is going to be needed against Europe's best this year. Now that we know he is staying, I hope hes up to it.

So how are Giant's benefits? (H) You should defect to Food Lion: nobody gave a rats ass how well I worked when I was there.

That, quite possibly, could be your downfall. Like pede54 said in a separate thread, nobody's high's will last forever, just as their low's will not last forever. Not having a go at Chelsea, they've done fabulous, I just had to say that.
