'boro 0 - Chelsea 5.

Another toally dominating performance. 5 great goals and 'boro never got a look in at all.

I love this stuff. I love the way we do not sit back after a goal or two, and ride the game out. Scolari keeps the boys focused on maintaining superiority for the entire game, always looking to move forward, and always looking for more goals.

Our display today was breathtaking when it could have gone quite differently for us considering our missing players. Cech, Ash, Ricci, Ballack, Deco, Joe, Essien and Drogba were all missing, although Deco made a late appearance as a sub today. He along with Ash, Joe and Ricci will be back next week in time for the Roma and Liverpool games.

You've got to admire the way our squad players step into the team when needed and not only give it everything, but the team flows almost as smoothly as if all the first choice players were there. Credit today to Carlo (I love this guy), Bridgey, Alex and Belletti (who played right midfield today), who scored a screamer for our second goal. Kalou (2 goals), Malouda (1 goal) and Sinclair also did really well.

Fantastic game by Frank and his headed goal was enjoyed as much by him as it was for us.

3 more points and 5 more goals into the bargain. Amazing. (Y)

great result, what can I say. Summed up in yer post, pete.
3 beautiful points. And nothing has been said about our goal difference. This time last season, the tabloids were saying how $hitty we were in the attacking third. Its funny how they hide whenever everything goes well for us.
I think at current form, we are the team to beat in the premier league.
But the coming Liverpool game is a tricky one, they've had a combination of "late in the game" tenacity and luck on their side so far.

As for Roma, I don't think Big Phil will or should rush the big guns back yet.
We could afford to rest players and keep this shape and flowing football as its been proven today that even our squad players can settle in nicely.

Bring on Roma and Liverpool.

I don't think that "trick" games exist anymore with Chelsea.i.e. little nothing/upstart teams(like Middlesbrough) don't have the ability to take points off you guys. I think it's Scolari's doing.........

Scolari has definately made a huge difference in that respect Newbie, although at the same time, one of those bogey teams will snatch points if complacency is allowed to raise it's head. Scolari is very focused in that respect. He sends the team out for every game with the same mentality whoever the opponants might be. The tactics and formations might change but the desire to win and to win well, is now installed into the entire squad.

We are looking consistantly better than I have seen us play for a long long time. That is also down to Filipe of course. The players actually look happier on the pitch these days, and that awful intensity and fear of losing, that was evident under Mourinho has gone. The vibe around the entire club is much better for everyone, including the fans.

I've also noticed that Scolari already has the support and the respect of the media. I have seen articles written this season (amongst all the usual Chelsea hating crap), that have amazed me to be honest. Some of the most anti Chelsea scribes are now overflowing in their praise of us. They are warming to us now, reluctently for sure but they are warming.

Thats down to Scolari and his history, his personality and the style of football he likes to play. He is a very popular man, and his fanbase grows with every game we play.

Sure there are vultures out there who are still waiting for the wheels to come off at Chelsea so they can feed off the scraps, but I have always thought they are wasting their time waiting for that to happen. Now, even they are beginning to believe it.

Well, the media have recently been nice to us, but they still managed to have a go at us fans now in regards to the away game against Hull.(The Sun said something about us being too posh to travel when its clear that most of us traveling would have transportation issues).

But agreed the about impact Scolari has made in terms of the way we play, and also the level of commitment as well. Even Drogba wants to finish his career with us now. He's also getting the best out of Malouda and Anelka. Our public image has always been something we had to contend with during Mourinho's reign, but now we're finally looking like a major force on and off the field without shenanigans that are unrelated to our football on the pitch.

Yeah like I said, some of the gutter press just can't leave it alone.

Our away support is as strong as anyones in the EPL, and a lot stronger than most. I go away a lot and we always have a huge Chelsea crowd in our part of the ground, so that's all bollocks.

They will persist though at painting their version of a typical (as if there is such a thing) Chelsea fan, if only to feed the haters who enjoy reading that rubbish. We know better though.

I thought Wenger over reacted after being called a voyeur by Jose. He's still at it though as his sour comments regarding our win over 'boro testify.

“For me, big results like that have no meaning. 5-0 Is not the difference between Middlesbrough and Chelsea,” said the Gunners’ boss, “I watched the first 20 minutes and you could see that Middlesbrough has one of these days. They had a bad day at the office today.”

Wenger also hinted that Luiz Felipe Scolari’s side had enjoyed a great deal of luck in the game, esepcially in front of goal.

“Every little deflection went for Chelsea and they didn’t ever need to get out of second gear to win the game,” said Wenger before concluding, “I don’t believe we saw the real Middlesbrough today, they are a good side and it is a difficult place for everybody to go.”

What DO you call someone who is always watching what other people are up to?

That's right....a voyeur. The man's a pratt.

Well, apart from Lampard and Belletti's goals you did have quite a bit of luck in the others... He isn't saying you didn't deserve it...

pede54

Team Captain
No he was saying that 'boro were so crap that it was easy for us. That is true to a certain extent as we are all aware that 'boro were poor. The reason that they were so poor though had as much to do with our dominance than 'boro having "an off day". He just cannot bring himself to admit that much though.

Why does he need to constantly talk about us at all is the real question. Jose was right. Wenger is a voyeur. He spends too much time watching what Chelsea are doing. He would be better off keeping his sour comments to himself, and sorting out his own underachieving club.

I'm sure all coaches watch other teams, but they keep their opinions to themselves mostly. Wenger simply does not stop whinging. He's a very depressing individual indeed.

Filipower

Meh, you're right to some degree... Mourinho doesn't stop whining either, and just wait until Scolari starts punching opposition's players, hehe

Chelsea 1- Roma 0.

Roma got what they deserved from this game, which was absolutely nothing. Another team who came and parked the bus for almost the entire game. They didn't have one shot on target, and I don't think that they even cared about it. Their attacks were lightweight and ineffective, as they worried so much on defending all the time.

Totti is a girly. A gust of wind and he's on the floor writhing in agony. Poofta.

Mexes is an absolute joke. He's a penalty just waiting to happen. When he's not wrestling with players in the box, he's diving to the ground in an effort to get the ref to book players, or to win a free kick. The idiot picked on John Terry tonight. Wrong choice ratboy. JT gave him a nice forearm smash across the chest though , and mexes was on his arse. It was a hell of a wallop, and JT was lucky the ref missed it. Either that or the ref thought Mexes deserved it.

Anyway enough about them. Solid performance by the boys. Nothing at all got past the back four. The midfield was solid. The strikeforce oif Malouda, Anelka and Kalou didn't over impress tonight. So it's thanks to JT we got our goal. Headed in from a Frankie corner. Nice to see him get a goal again. It's been a while.

It was nice and late in the game too when he scored, which sent Roma into a bit of a panic as they realised that they were now going to lose the game. They were prepared to settle for a draw before the game kicked off, and by the time we scored they offered too little too late.

This could have been a really good game if only Roma could have arrived with the intent to win the match. Shame. So, all 3 points to us.

Looking forward to playing Liverpool this weekend. Oh yes indeedy (Y)

Well, pete, I don't think you can blame Roma for parking the bus. I'm sure arriving here, they're keen to avoid something like the 7-1 drubbing they got from Utd a couple of seasons back. And they also got thrashed by Inter recently, so I expected their approach to be like this.

You can't expect to play Brazil type football week-in, week-out, even Brazil can't do that. So for us, it was crucial that got the win, even if we dug deep to do so.

Yeah, Totti and Mexes were doing their best to distrupt our passage of play. But at the end, it was all handshakes, JT, Totti, Mexes, got along just fine after the final whistle blew, so it was all just typical battles being fought out.

I thought in games like these, we missed Drogba. We looked more threatening when Di Santo came on. Roma were defending very deep, every one of our crosses into the box cleared with ease.

Great goal by JT, typical "I'll put my body on the line" header, he even spun 360 degrees in the process. I'm sure he's delighted with it.
And it looks like we've got Riccy and Deco back to fitness just in time for Liverpool.

So its a good result after all!!

Bring on the Reds!!

With the belated and somewhat restrained cries of "come on Chelsea" echoing around the ground, the second half kicked off in a similar moribund vein. When you are not a long-term fan of a team and come merely to be entertained by some nice football, games like this are not ideal and the supporters sitting around us in the press overflow area were looking more than a little bemused by the lack of goalmouth action.

Part of an article on ESPN Soccernet about chelsea fans, would really love to hear Pede and others comment on this.

Why is it so hard to believe that there can be chelsea fans before they had the money? I personally followed chelsea since the zola days, particularly thanks to Zola since he was a great striker in Fifa 98, and I just kept up to date with his club- that being Chelsea. As stupid a reason as that is, it doesnt make me any less of a fan, having followed a club for more than 10 years now.

Negative publicity about the fans, thats weird!

Zakov

Senior Squad
Well, its simple really. Since the media can't find any dirt on our team like they used to in the past, they've gone after the fans of the so-called "most hated" club in Britain. Look in the last few pages as I mentioned about The Sun taking a swipe at our fans for the upcoming Hull away game .

Just a quick opinion about the so-called Bandwagon jumpers as claimed by the media and most people,
I personally don't care whether these fans were here only after Roman arrived, if they are to be Chelsea fans, they should put up with whatever comes with it. When Jose left to be replaced by Avram, I think many showed their true colours and sort of dumped the club, only to come back when things picked up again.

If u look at Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal, they've been successful for a while now, new fans can immediately pick up on them without being noticed.
I'm sure not many of them are old enough to see those teams finish below 10th or summat. So for those claiming only a club like Chelsea attract glory-hunters, they're dead wrong, since every successful club will attract these type of fans.

Sure, and that atricle is so anti-Chelsea that it sticks out a mile. I'm not surprised the moron who wrote it doesn't use his name. It's innacurate, ill informed and the anti- Chelsea slant is so persistant that the article stinks of sour grapes and a distinct lack of knowledge about the game of football.

We usually just ignore badly written crap like that, because it's just so obvious where this guy's head is at.

Anyhow. Looks like Joe Cole will be back for the game on Sunday. I don't feel too worried about the outcome. I have no doubt that the home record will still be standing afterwards too.

We are in form and they still look dodgy, so unless they suddenly gell as a team by Sunday, or decide to go for the penalty opportunities that might arise, and as long as the ref aint a scouser, then I think the points are ours.

Over confident? No, I'm never over confident. Just confident. (Y)

Holy **** that's one of the most biased pieces of crap I've ever read. I just don't even know where to start with that guy, so I won't. People like that are a disgrace to journalism and even the human race man. My god, I bet he didn't get a scarf on wednesday hahaha
