Im not saying hes good enough to start for Chelsea, Im just saying hes good and his performances for Israel, and his performances for Bolton are proof. Besides, evaluating a player off one game (5-1 Vs Bolton) is harsh. Get me straight Ben Haim should not start, and I ve made it clear in my earlier posts (browse the thread if ne of yall got time :D) that I dread seeing Ben Haim start over better quality players, nooo way am i comparing him to the same level to Terry, Carvalho, Alex, im just sayings hes good cover if he starts to perform like he does with the N.T and way he did it w/ Bolton.

Anyways
We getting strongly linked to Anelka

Drogba, Anelka could be deadly.

hehe, i get ya dipset.....the point yer making is that he's a decent backup, rite?

Well, i did sound harsh when i mentioned the 5-1 hammering when he was at Bolton, but i didn't him remember as being a commanding defensive force at Bolton, but if he is as solid as you say, he should have no problems settling behind Alex, Riccy and JT.......

s.k - ya using babelfish,mate?

About Anelka, if we do manage to get him, it'll be a welcome transfer deal....
Anelka has the quality that i think we lacked for a long time.....He's a different type of player than Drogba but he has a great goal-scoring record for almost every club he's been at, and we know he's got what it takes for the Premiership....plus, he's eligible for the CL...

The whole world and his dog might believe that Nicolas Anelka is off to Chelsea - including Anelka himself - but the Bolton manager Gary Megson insists that no club has yet opened talks for the £10m-rated striker.

Anelka, who has scored 11 times for Bolton this season, told L'Equipe that Chelsea were discussing a fee for his services - but no deal had been done. But following Bolton's 1-0 win against Derby last night, Megson told reporters: "In terms of Chelsea making contact I am not aware of that or any other club making contact.

Article continues
"I am aware of the speculation and have seen the article," he added. "But Nic did say if nothing happens he is happy at Bolton. It is something and nothing. We will just keep going and try to deal with the speculation that surrounds him."

Megson was delighted the way Anelka applied himself in the 1-0 victory against Derby, even though he failed to score. "I was really pleased with Nic," he said. "He has not scored but he worked really hard for us. With five minutes to go he was chasing a ball that he lost himself."

Anelka signed a new four-year contract earlier this season, but the Frenchman has always been twitchy for a move at every club he's been at. Transferred seven times in the last 11 years, Anelka has moved for combined fees of £66m. And, when talking to L'Equipe earlier this week, he made it clear that Chelsea were his preferred destination for his next move.

"The chairmen [of Bolton and Chelsea] are discussing it," Anelka said. "I really hope it happens - and especially that I am eligible to play in the Champions League. But until the contract is signed and I am presented to the press in my new shirt, nothing is done."

Anelka has also been linked with a return to one of his former clubs, Manchester City, where he played from 2002-05. "I want to go to a bigger club and that's what City have become under a manager such as Sven-Goran Eriksson, who I was ready to join in 1999 at Lazio.

"Staying at Bolton, where I am very happy, wouldn't be a punishment either."

Mus, its just pure speculation but its a good speculation to have when a player like Anelka is linked with yer club......, we never said anything about the deal being done, notice when I SAID "IF" HE JOINS US.
we're not $hitting ourselves dude.....
hell, even Berbatov's linked with us....which is no suprise really....:P

i wouldn't expect or ask for another star striker as long as schev and drogba are on the payroll. it'd probably be someone more along the lines of kalou or pizarro.

Anelka's nothing too special i'd say, i'd still be happy to have him, but he's not gonna create miracles or anything, he's not young either but problem is that there aren't that many 'world class' strikers around thse days like midfielders. and it seems like no strikers form lasts longer than a few years now before they go down a bit. and you can't really expect to sign those world clcass strikers that are so important to their clubs unless you wanna pay 30 million+ so it's not realistic to ask for one but a bit of creativity would be nice.

well, it looks like we will need to get a new striker eventually....Drogba's reiterated his desire to leave but only once the season ends.....
so bit of a bad news there.....

Great performance by SWP, but i don't understand sending-offs nowadays, two footed challenges result in an automatic red card but what about one footed challenges? Gawd, referees need to think carefully b4 just going about and flashing red cards to players.....obviously the crowd(except Everton fans) wanted to see an evenly played contest, but once again the referee had to spoil it.....We were in control until that sending off, but still a comical goal got us the advantage to take to Goodison!! Thanks Lescott!!

yea..the red card was unfair.
it's true tht mikel showed his stud but man..it's a contested ball.. i mean 50-50.. how can u expect a 50-50 ball to challenge by not putting ur stud on th front?
if i'm not mistake..mikel looks like crying tho.poor for him..he got passion..but maybe becuz he's too young..

ballack, man..i'm surprise he's back. i know his current performance is noway from his bayern one..but...he looks extremely good this time around..sheva too..

swp deserved man of the match for sure

& to be honest.. i think i'm starting to love grant.

if it was Jose.. if the score is 1-1...u can smell more defensive approach from the team.

this looks great..extremely great..eventho we're out of sooooooo many KEY PLAYERS (not star players ;) )

A Derby is a match between 2 clubs who's grounds are resident, in the same City or town. So yeah, Chelsea V QPR is a derby. Maybe Adobe Sun does not remember when QPR were indeed our arch enemies when they were in the top flight. Back then a Chelsea V QPR game was a derby in EVERY sense of the word.

When we played them a while back, the atmosphere was as hostile as it has always been. The difference was that most of us "old enemies", from both sides, are now too old to be bothered with it all. So we just taunted each other with banter. Which is a lot lot safer (and funnier), than trying to beat someone's head in.

Shaun was perfect last night, and in front of Capello too, so that was fortunate. He had an amazing all round game. His tackling has improved ten fold lately too. He came cleanly away with the ball so many times last night. Very pleased for him.

In fact until Mikel got himself sent off again, which I actually thought he deserved, (if the relevant stupid law concerning any "studs up" tackle is to be adhered to), we were well on top. That shook us up for a while for sure, but thankfully with a smart change of formation and 10% more from every player, we fought our way back on top.

I was impressed again by the players attitudes. They all just refuse to give in and that really is something to see.

Ballack is looking more like the Ballack we all want, with every game. Very commanding game from him. Carvalho was back for this game and it was great to see him in charge at the back. Joe cole played some lovely stuff and Bridgy worked his arse off all night. Great performance all round considering the loss of so many important players that we are experiencing right now.

I think Grant, ten Cate and Steve are doing a fine job between them. I know some Chelsea morons will never give Grant a break but thats because they are thick as shlt. They don't understand exactly what loyalty is. They think that Jose was Chelsea was Jose. They think that Jose was more important than the club. They support Jose and not Chelsea. In fact those thick <unts have probably forgotten why they booed Grant in the first place.

I support Chelsea Football Club. I dont have to agree with everything that they do, but I will always support my club. Grant is manager/coach of Chelsea, so I support him too. Jose was arguably the best manager we ever had and I loved the bloke but he is history. He is a memory. The future is what is important. A lot of fans I know who wanted another superstar manager after Jose, are accepting Grant now. I think considering the situation that Grant walked himself into at Chelsea, he has handled himself exceptionally well, on and off the pitch. He'll do for me.

C'mon U Blues:rockman:

yup, Loftus Road(where Fulham used as their venue for a couple of seasons back) is just nearby Stamford Bridge, so it should be called a West London derby....I was too young to remember matches between the two when both clubs have been in top flight......but I do remember me dad mentioning about them.....

I agree about Grant, but I think its about Grant-Ten Cate-Clarke.....I think the appointment of Henk really helped us balance things....its not often you see a manager surrounded by two assistant coaches working so well together....speaking of coaches, Big Sam just got the sack today!! I didn't see it coming so soon, prolly Big Sam didn't but tough $hit........

We've got Tottenham next, I thought they looked good against the much hailed young Arsenal team......It will be a cracking match tho....I've heard here and there about having Anelka already signed for us, but don't believe any rubbish until the club confirms it.....

Yeah the Spurs game should be a cracker as usual. They impressed me last night. They were all over Arsenal like a rash for almost the entire game. Bad luck for Spurs that Arsenal scored from a very fortunate rebound off Wallcott. Still, so what huh?

I think if Grant has decided that he wants Anelka for Saturday's game, then I would be very surprised if we don't see him sign for us tommorow. Still, lets wait and see.

Jon Mikel Obi, will begin his 3 game suspension for the red card he recieved against Everton immediately, according to the FA. That means that he will begin his suspension from today, and not begin his ban when he returns from the ACN. Therefore he will miss no more games for Chelsea than he was already expected to because of the ACN. Very sensible IMO. :)

Football Association rules state that a player who receives a straight red is banned from that moment - unless the club lodges an appeal, and Chelsea have not.

I would expect this decision will really get up some peoples noses. It will be fun to see who gets pissed off by it.:fluffy:

Chelsea are really pulling it together with all those players missing, ive watched their last 5 or 6 games and they've go a whole lotta fight in them. Good to see Ballack finally kicking in and Sheva doesn't look too bad himself, i hope he comes back soon.

just heard the news that you've just signed Abdul-Salam Bilal -- aka Nicolas Anelka, aka Le Sulk ... £15M seems more than a bit exorbitant to me, especially when you consider that you could have gotten Klaas-Jan Huntelaar for that much ...

anyway, for the sake of good football, let's hope that living in London once again allows him to re-live his younger and more glorious Arsenal days ... even if he performs for you Blues like he does for Les Bleus, it wouldn't be too bad -- true, he only scores around 25% of the time that he plays for his country, but every time he does score, France win ....

Yep it's Nic to Chelsea. Bolton wanted 20 million for him. We offered 12 mill. They said no, so we compromised at 15 mill. If he lives up to expectations 15 mill will be cheap. The cost aint important anyway, its what he can give to us that is. Anelka will not, in his own words, "ever get a chance like this again". So I am hoping that we are gonna reap the benefit of his skills for the next 4 years. This club will be his only chance of winning something before it's too late for him, and he recognises that. Taking that into consideration, I think we will get a very professional and a more mature Anelka than we have seen before. His behaviour for Bolton on and off the pitch, has been exemplary so I think he has been sorted for a while now anyway.

I think he is a very good signing indeed, and there will be a few fans of other clubs who were hoping that he might find his way into their teams this transfer window. I don't have any doubts about him at all.
