I'm worried that once we become the first team to retain the Champions League we will lose Di Matteo to Barcelona.

BBC reports that Whelan and Gourlay have met face to face, and Wigan want 8.5m pounds (down from the allegedly unyielding stance on 10). I'd say this is pretty much done. I know we can get Moses on-board and talks with Wigan are at advanced stage (and it's the BBC, so I'm trusting the report).

Good stuff if we sign him. I'd have preferred Schurrle, but Leverkusen aren't selling and Moses is cheaper and homegrown. I wonder if he'll actually get to contribute heavily this season, since I can't see him beating Hazard, Mata, Ramires, Marin for the parts, but he'd get minutes. I wonder if he'll be the 3rd ST back-up which allows Lukaku to leave. I'm not keen on a ST trio of Torres, Sturrdige and Moses, but we'll see.

The figure for Schurrle is up at 25m which is way way too much. I say get this position filled cheap and use the rest of the money elsewhere which makes Moses the perfect option........ I still think 8.5 is too much mind you considering he is in his last year and at Wigan, 5 would be a fair price.

Lukaku's agent has confirmed that he'll go out on loan to a Premiership club which isn't Fulham before the window closes. That's good, but we need a good fit for him. We can discard ManU, City, Pool, Arsenal, Newcastle and Spurs on account of them all being too good and having good strikers already.

That leaves of with Villa, Everton, Norwich, QPR, Reading, Soton, Stoke, Sunderland, Swansea, West Brom, West Ham and Wigan.

Villa have Bent, Gabby and Heskey able to play CF, and I think that's just a bit too much competition for him, Bent is better than Lukaku currently. Everton also have enough capable forwards. Norwich have Holt, and unless he leaves I don't think they'd bring in Lukaku to deputise for him. QPR are set, too. He'd definitely start for Reading, but I think we can get him playing time ar a better club. Same goes for Soton. Stoke sound like a good fit, but all of their strikers are big men, seems redundant. I'm unsure what Sunderland's posuition with Bendtner is right now, but Lukaku is better than Wickham definitely, so whether Nicklas returns or not, I feel Lukaku would get plenty of playing time. He'd start for West Brom too, and they don't have a big striker on their books, I suppose he'd fit there. He doesn't fit at Swansea. He would get plenty of action at Wigan, although they have big strikers already. And he'd start for West Ham, too.

All in all, my favorite destinations would be Sunderland, West Brom, Wigan or West Ham. He'd see the most playing time at West Ham, and that's the most likely deal, especially since Wolves are playing hardball with Sudnerland over Fletcher but they still haven't sniffed for Lukaku. That said, I think he should go somewhere where he'd have some better competition for places. I mean, if he can't hold down a starting berth at pretty much any of the clubs at the bottom 10 of the Prem, we should be worried.

All this probably means we're getting a striker, although it's possible Moses is earmarked for the role.

Azpilicueta, Moses and some back-up ST would be neat. We're also interested in Wallace, an 18-year old RB, which I'd mark for. We need more prospects at RB, IMO.

Cant we loan him to Wigan in exchange for a discount on Moses? Martinez is the perfect man to develop him.

Yeah man we need an RB equivalent of Ryan Bertrand coming through. We need to start developing some quality defenders of our own.

Wigan don't want a player in return. If they did I'd throw McEachran and Lukaku at them without thinking twice. I still hope we'll throw them at Roberto even if we don't get a discount.

EDIT: We have Bruma and Kalas, Chalobah, and Omerou at CB and they are quite promising (there are more too, we are quite stacked there, I'd be surprised if we don't have a top CB from the youth squad in 5 years). Those 4 have all played at RB, too, but beyond Kane we have no one I've heard anything positive about for an attacking RB role.

They should. Lukaku could just keep them up another season. We shouldnt forget that Lukaku is already a proven goalscorer at a better side than Wigan.

If those 2 and whoever we get as backup don't work out, probably. But honestly, Torres and Sturride can take their chances and with our new signings, thy will get chances.

Also I think the idea in Abramovich's head is to become more like Barcelona, ie not totally dependent on a centre forward to score. This wont work because we dont have a Messi and our whole team ethos has been built around Drogba, but if Torres doesnt come good I still think we will be able to do very well being like a better version of Tottenham in their CL year - rotating misfiring centreforwards who stretch the game out allowing the goals to come in from cutting edge wingers and midfielders. So yeah, I wouldnt mind a back-up (this would have been one of the benefits of splashing the cash on Hulk rather than Oscar) but the current situation doenst worry me. Honestly, I think it is now time to turn our attention to the defense.

Lukaku to West Brom on loan. He'll have competition for places, but if he can't beat Odweminge, Cox, Long and Rosenberg for a starting spot he's not gonna makevit at Chelsea.
