Censorship

what's your censorship in your country like? mine is like so forked up, so i enjoyed every moment during my 2 weeks stay at australia..

for example, the show cruel intentions, which is teens + mild erotica, would never get aired here in Singapore.. and even if it did, there would be many deleted scenes and sentences like "shut the *beep* u *beep* pussy"...:s***:

and in free to air channels, wrestling is only shown in the wee hours of the night, so as to prevent little children from watching it.. and when they are being aired, all those chairshots are censored, and as i have said above, there would be *beep*s every 10 seconds during the show..

i know censorship plays an important part to a country's development, but being too strict on these issues is like having a bird's wings clipped. come on, if u want people to know u r a developed country, what type of impression would tourists get when they walk past a media store and notice that a 007 movie gets a "B" rating for censorship, and music albums of limp bizkit, xtina aguilera, britney spears etc. get a big "parental guidance" in front of the CD cover..

so what do you think?

PS : is it possible that anyone could send a full season of cruel intentions 2?:brow:

Censorship is necessary, you don't want youngins to be influenced by the overly sex-induced and violent modern society, well, they're f_cked anyway, we're quickly losing all morals and values that we once had, with the rise in popularity of erotic pop and hip hop music, the worst thing is that these types of music are often considered harmless, they're filled with sexual and violent themes, all in the name of morbosity, it's good your country regulates this, you don't want people to buy a Britney Spears album for their children thinking it's okay.

Movies and TV shows are censored everywhere, not just in your country, you don't want swearing or inaproppiate material on public access TV, although cable channels do it too, they can get away with it (as shown by the South Park episode in which they say the word '****' over a hundred times without it being censored).

Good posting, sound morals and values- a refreshing change!!

Unfortunately, more and more people are being 'broken down' spiritually every day. We live in very decadent societies, where our elders aren't respected anymore, and:- drug use; crime; and general moral decay, is on an unprecedented increase.
Let's not even begin to delve into the 'dumbing-down culture' that's so prevalent today...

Welcome to the Brave New World, the year is Nineteen Eighty-Four; enjoy your stay... on Animal Farm!

Maybe someone from Norway can help me out on this one, but don't they have a lot of movies banned from screening in their country for the violent content? Cant remember which movies are banned, but they were on the scale of things like Terminator 2 or even Die Hard.

Movies like those are viewed by people around the ages of 14-15 all around the world, maybe even younger.

The problem is not music and movies. The problem is parenting. It started off as a few bad ones and now more and more are getting lazy and now you just have these bitch children who nothing more than punks. I have been raised in a fairly strict household I have curfew and there rules in place about behavior. It seems like most kids now can go where ever they whenever they want with no protest from their parents. It seems more and more Parents are putting themselves first and their kids second and then blaming it on stuff like T.V. and music when in fact those have nothing to do with kids being bad and not listening. I don't understand why older people use that as a scapegoat for them not being good parents. They parents have to install at an early age not only respect for the kid but an amout of fear in the kid it seems like insteading of kids being punished for being bad they are allowed to run rampant.

and yea hakeem i think it was a movie, didn't watch the whole movie though.. and precisely, the movie was nothing, but it still won't be aired here in this country.. tells u much about the strictness of censorship here..

generally swearing in all countries are censored!

The games ratings in australia go from G, G8+, M, MA15+. There is no R in game classification so they ban them. :(

Our censorship is slightly leanient than i the states. (R17+) = MA or MA15+

what ****ted me was when snatch was on free to air a few months ago...the amount of stuff that was silenced or just cut out completely was amazing...
