Career Mode 2005 Thread

What really sucks in the career mode is that there are virtually no injuries whatsoever. I have so far played one and a half seasons in the Swedish league...and so far only two players have been injured (both during practice) a total of five days!

The worst injury so far...an injured toe on Anders Svensson which left him sitting for three days....

i still not got FIFA 2005 as i am undecided whether to buy it or not. it sounds to me like EA have tried to do a career mode along the lines of Sensible World Of Soccer but have not quite got it right.

Not being able to search for players is criminal. also tatically FIFA 2005 not sounding like it up to scratch. i would rather be able to choose my own tatics then hire defense coaches etc.

Guys i got a problem with career mode. Im using boston utd and i have 153 points for training however how do u allocate the training? When i click on the training i want a msg comes up telling me ive chosen fitness and tells me what it does but that training does not go to level 1 and my points remain as 153.
I thought the points would decrease by 100 and the training will indicate a level 1??

Well I'm on my first season and I've had two players injured allready, one of them was out for more than a month. I guess it varies.

Maybe you'll have a player sidelined for six months soon...let's pray for it. ;)

- What choices do I have on what club to start with? I mean, what leagues and what teams are in my range for the first season?

-Will I be able to change the kits, if so, how? If I'm going to be coaching a team like Torino, let's say, I don't want the generic kit EA provides, I want to improve it and maybe get some new sponsors.

- How do I obtain new players?

- Is it possible to obtain a player like Carlos Tevez in your first season?

- How is it determined on what teams offer you the manager position? For example, in your 7th season how likely is it that a team like AC Milan or Barcelona will offer you a job?

- What happens to the players over the years? Do they just retire? Surely players like Fernando Hierro and Luis Figo would have to be gone by the 5th season...

- Do new players evolve? If so, are they real and how did EA manage to accomplish this?

- Go to FIFA 2005 Online and look at the team's list, most teams under or equal to 2.0 stars are available to you from the beginning. Also, ALL MLS teams are available as well.

- Go Torino! :) On the PC, I'm sure that'll be a possiblity (heck, it probably already has been for a week I'd bet ;)), though I'm sure it would be nearly impossible on a console.

- Transfers market, you can earn budget points from A. Winning Matches, and B. Selling Players. Use those budget points to purchase other players (and cross your fingers they want to join your club! Andres Isaksson was about..my 8th choice for a new goalie. Shhh, don't tell him I said that.)

- It depends who you are I guess. My only idea as far as getting, say, Tevez (36,295 budget points...), would be to take over an MLS squad, sell off your best 2 or 3 players to raise the capital, then try to purchase him. However, he would likely be disgusted by your low manager reputation/level of talent in the league, and would reject your offer.

- I really couldn't answer how it is determined who offers you a position. I'm sure there is some formula based on wins, your ability to reach your team's goal, etc.

- I have no idea on retirement.

- I THINK they do indeed improve. I haven't had a chance to do much in the way of studying this, but as an example...Freddy Adu starts with 74att/73mid/50def on the default rosters, and he is now 76att/75mid/52def in the second season of my career (he's still with D.C. United), so there is definately a player progression algorithm at work.

I had Heskey go out for ~3 weeks in the next to last game of season 1. I also sustained 1 or 2 injuries early on.

They can, yes. :)

I just remembered a previous injury, I lost Omolade to a groin injury for a month and a half I think.

After the game, it tells you when the injured player will be able to return to playing condition. (i.e. Player X will be ready to return July 31, 2005)

granted i live 20 mins from Giants stadium, but this club has never won anything, the closest they have gotten to ever winning something was last year losing to Chicago in the Open Cup Final
