Career Mode 2005 Thread

we should just get to choose which team we want to be. So if someone wants to be Arsenal they should be able to or if someone wants more of a challenge and start with a lower division team and take them to the premiership they should be able to also I think...

I'm a die hard Liverpool fan and I'd love to start of as Liverpool. But when your career lasts 15 years doesn't anyone else feel like it would be abit of a ball breaker managing the same team. Also in my eyes its fantastic how EA makes us start as a lower team and if we are good enough we can manage a good team like Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd. and so on.

Also for those who have actually payed attention and looked around this forum and have seen screenshots from the career mode they'd see that it's really in depth. It's a whole new approach to the whole Career Mode because this year EA has not only tried something new but they have refined some of the things on 2004. I'm looking forward to it. I got 13 days to go until it's out

By the time you'll get your hands on managing Liverpool, Steven Gerrard will be training the team :crazyboy:

Would it bother you if you NEVER had the chance to manage Liverpool in your 15 year career?

I don't know how it'll work but it would probably take several years to reach the top level, and even then, maybe it's not a guarantee that you'll be able to manage the club of your choice. Who knows though. We'll have to see how it works I guess.

For me, it doesn't really matter that much, as I don't really have a club I'm all that diehard about (although Millwall in the English Championship is grabbing my attention, with the Canadians on their roster .. and I kinda like Rangers in the SPL for some reason).

I think the career mode is gonna make this an awesome game to keep us occupied this winter and next spring. (H)

Maybe you could start with one of these portugese team that you could get hired, then by the 2nd year you could be the ECC champion and that would increase your chances of going to a big team.

One question:
It is very obvius that you can´t start whit the big teams, but can you turn off players aging (so they don´t age and don´t retire)?? Because I don+t wanna start coaching Man Utd and have van the man as president and not player:)

I never knew they were having that option. The player aging option. It'll be more realistic if they have it but by the time you get to a decent team in career mode pretty much all current players would have retired. And if they retire who takes their spot .. not that many young players will be left to substitute the older players.

I have a screenshot that shows the Fitness Coach, Medical Staff, Finance Department, Scouting Staff. How exactly are we ment to use these. Not quite sure how they'll work.

well for example...if you use more points for your fitness staff, your players will be more fit...;)

Is that inside info? :crazyboy:

Seriously, i would say it is a little more complicated than that. You have to produce analysis of team weak and strong points and decide where to invest your available resources (points) each season, maybe also make long term plans.

It's a good thing - imo - that you have a choice to go in-depth with managing the team and i'm looking forward to see how these features will produce an addicting - or not - career mode.

Confirmation from EA's Matt Holme that you can change regions in FIFA 2005:

"I have been reading the forums and noticed that people have the misconception that you cannot change regions once you start a career. This is completely incorrect. You can change regions at the end of each year if you wish.

So if you start off in England, and suceed there, you are free to move to Mexico next year and see what clubs are offering you jobs there. It all depends on your prestige level and how successful you have been in your career to date as to which teams you will be offered. A tip though... if you have a favourite club that you want to coach, make sure you set them as your favourite team in "My FIFA 2005". You will be pleasently surprised at the end of your first season if you have met the board's requests."

So one successful first year and you could find yourself playing as your favourite club. :)

Hello is it true that you can't start a career with a top club like Arsenal of Real Madrid for example but that you have to start with a lower division club like Derby Country or Top Oss?

Tnx.

Yes.

I chose the Italian area, and ended up with Verona for my first job (I had at least half of Serie B to pick from, I think all of Serie B).

We will have to wait and see what happens at the end of the season, I'm just over half way through, but I hardly think that winning promotion with Leyton Orient in the 2nd Div would land me a job with Liverpool. If I won promotion to the Premiership the next season, it would perhaps be a little more realistic.

It will be interesting to see if players like Shearer do retire after the first season, 15 years on he would be terrorising defenders on his zimmer frame, or one of those electric scooters.....

Someone posted a quote from a developer of the game hinting toward being able to take over your designated "favourite team" if you met your first year's goal.

Zhariken could you please tell me what all the staff that you have in the game is. All I know for now is: Manager, Striker Coach, Midfielder Coach, Defence Coach, Goalkeeper Coach, Fitness Coach, Medical Staff, Finance Department and Scouting Staff. What other staff members do you have. And also do you pick what your Staff members looks like or do they already have a 'Picture' assigned to them ? Please answer me this question champ, really curious.

:)
