um, ok. i'm trying to burn a movie but i'm havin' some trouble b/c the file is 696MB which is lower than the capacity of the medium i'm trying to burn it on (700MB). what's the deal? :| it says i don't have enough space.. is there any way i can make this file a few MB smaller?

what is that file format? mpg or avi? if it is mpg you can just select video cd format rather then data cd format.. a 696mb mpg should be able to fit into a 700mb cd-r nicely... if it is avi then i think u need other software like virtualdub to split the file.. never did try it but i think it should be able to split it...

it depends on your burner to be honest. Some are good overburners, some aren't.

its not only the burner.............. once i bought really cheap blank disks which claimed to be 700 MB, but would only allow about 650 :nape:
