The lower division was a lot more fun than getting pumped every match. I'm on course to avoid relegation but wow.

And now one of my strikers says he needs to move onto a "bigger club". He needs to score more than once every ten matches is what he needs to do. With his shitty ass.

Not bad. I'm actually happy with that. Started off really poorly but switched the tactics some and tightened up at the back. I was able to beat Toluca and managed a draw against Cruz Azul. Monterrey beat my ass a few times though including a 5-1 :(.

As long as Veracruz and Jaguares keep losing I should be okay in the average points table too.

I am not a fan of playoffs for championships in soccer. A league should suffice.

Not bad going. Onwards and upwards. See if you can tempt Chicarito home.

Haha, Chivas are actually a rival of mine so I don't ever see that happening.

I started off the Clausura really poorly, 4 losses in 5 matches. I picked it up and got 4 wins on the trot though. Three of those were against teams around me and I somehow managed to stun America. Currently in 12th, I'd take that if the season ended today. Monterrey next :(.

Finally. I've played in four Mexican Cups and they've been in my group three times, and every single time they beat my ass. That's probably the most pleasing win I've had. It actually came from a tactical necessity, my senior centerbacks were either injured or very tired so I had to play a couple of younger ones and decided to press high instead of sitting back. It worked really well.

Also, if you look at the report, I was shitting on myself when they got that header because I was sure we'd blown it.

Rocky start and finish to the Clausura but the middle part was fun! I'm considering that an incredible success even though I was hopeful of qualifying for the playoffs at one point, all things considered I'm very pleased with that. The board is too. I actually get a transfer budget next season so I can bring in some better players. Cruz Azul and Toluca were tough defeats to take because we outplayed both of them.

Xolos won the title (8-3 on aggregate over Pachuca!), Chivas the Cup, and Veracruz got relegated. I'm 14th in the relegation table so I'll have to be on my toes next season.

I hate losing on penalties. I always go best penalty take #3. First two are second best and third best respectively. Then hope the keeper saves one. In my current game Asmir Begovic is my fourth penalty taker. That shows you the depth I have. He is 1/1 in matches mind you.

This wasn't fun at all. Fuck that was frustrating. Both starting center backs and a holding midfielder had 2-3 month injuries and you can see what it did. It doesn't help matters that my reserve left back is SUPER SHIT and the starter is an unfit sicknote who gets injured when he's not too tired to actually play. He's currently out for 5 months because he broke his foot in training.

Hopefully getting the DCs back will make the Clausura a little less torturous than the Apertura was.

Managed a much better Clausura, I guess having competent defenders available for selection helps in that regard. Let fewer goals in and, more importantly, stopped letting in really the really soft, cheap goals that burned me in the first half. I lost to all the teams above me (sans Leon) plus Monterrey (who actually won the Champions League!) and Atlas and then managed to scoot past Leon (2-1 on aggregate) before getting absolutely thumped by America in the semifinals.

I did win the Copa MX Clausura though which was a huge boost, the board and the fans are enamored with me at the moment.

I like this half season thing, you can win titles with average teams!

Gabriel Rodriguez and Renan Silva have been great this season, Rodriguez is second among goal scorers in the league (and that's really impressive because I split time between him and a young striker) and Silva has the highest average rating.

Pretty happy about that one. I have some tough away games next term so repeating will be tough but we have the Copa Libertadores to look forward to and that's awesome.

Watch my goalkeeper's mistake for their goal. That was special.

A couple of screenshots:

Jaguares qualified for the playoffs but got relegated because of the average points thing so now they can't play in them. The Mexican League.

Ah shit.

Gotta love retarded stuff like that coming out of the Mexican league...

I managed to win the Copa Libratadores and I have no idea how, here's me beating Flamengo 4-0 in the first leg of the final (I lost the return leg 2-0):

It was strange, the Brazilian teams weren't that good. Is that because I don't have the Brazilian league set to active, would that make it easier? I'm going to pretend it makes it harder because that makes me happier.

We overachieved. This is so very exciting, what could possibly ruin it?

DAMMIT!

I sold off my top centerback too, his contract was due to expire and he wanted $30,000 a week when I can only give him up to $25,000 so he had to go. He's in France now, I only made $3.5m from him :(. The good news is the youth system is producing some good kids, I have five youth products (one of them, Davila, sets up a goal in the video above) who I'm playing pretty regularly now so I'm excited about that.

Beat America, Leon, and Monterrey in the playoffs.

I'm getting a little bored with the league now :/. I like the idea of seeing this generation of kids through, they're good, but I'm kinda bored with the league itself. Anyone got any suggestions for another one? I was thinking Israel but I don't know much about it.

I'm surprised jimmorizon doesn't hang around this thread. Anyway great job! I'm doing a Pentagon challenge only managing teams with blue/white, which is the most fun I remember having with FM for a long time, so I really recommend you moving to other leagues! Israel could be good. Or like a really shady Eastern European league.

Btw I'm still getting frustrated by the other teams' late goals. It seems no matter what I do, the game always figures out a way to push for that late equalizer or winner. (obviously this is not EVERY game, but enough games that it gets annoying)

Yeah, that was a problem for me last season except they were right before half time. Pissed me off so much.
