I was looking for a new game to get into so I started one with Duisburg. They don't have any money and recently got relegated so I couldn't bring anyone in during the window, they'd already had a transfer lined up but it got canceled because they could no longer afford it. Nice.

This is my team:

They stink. They aren't tough enough and a lot of them have really shitty attitudes when you talk to them. Kingsley Onuegbu is pretty good though which means he'll probably be sold in January to help with the finances. The squad players are really, really bad.

We've done alright against the bottom half of the league but got torched by the top three (except Chemnitz, that could've gone either way). The Kiel one was particularly brutal as we almost stole a point but gave up a really poor goal late. We were all over Kickers but gave up another soft one. Hopefully Bajic can add something to the defense, he's been suspended for what seems like an eternity (he started out with it).

I'm going to have to cut some fat and go bargain hunting.

Halfway through, we're surprisingly a very decent 3rd but it's very tight. You can see the defenders and goalkeeper are just leaking goals, it's so frustrating because I have no idea how to stop it with this group of players and still maintain the thrust needed to score goals at the other end. You can see the back-to-back 0-0's where I experimented with a more defensive lineup but couldn't get anything going up front.

The Cup match with Hoffenheim is was a heartbreaker, they equalized in the 86th minute and looked to be offside, it broke the team's will and they just steamrolled us in ET.

I got bored with FM so I didn't play it for awhile, I started a new game this week with Universidad de Guadalajara in Ascenso MX.

The Mexican League is kind of weird. Relegation is determined by averaging the points from the last three years and sending the bottom team down, promotion is determined through playoffs. Last year's champion, Toros Neza, doesn't exist anymore because it was bought, relocated, and renamed Delfines de Carmen.

U de G is probably the fourth biggest club in Guadalajara after Chivas, Atlas, and Tecos. They play in the same stadium as Atlas and it's way too big for them.

I've started the season well, top of the division (despite 2 losses) and into the quarter-finals of Copa MX. I managed to beat Pumas twice in the Cup and was really excited about it until I checked the First Division standings and saw how awful they are in this game, I couldn't beat Santos Laguna though and expect Pachuca to beat my ass bad.

That game against Correcaminos sucked, I had 10 men for 81 minutes and they just laid siege to my goal, thankfully their strikers had one of those games.

I really liked the Mexican league. The competitiveness level was good. There were always teams becoming good, with the exception of Chivas who always had the best players (but sometimes they didn't finish first). And the level of football was pretty good.

I managed Tigres, Pumas and Monterrey in FM 13.

Most of the teams move the ball around really smoothly, even in this tier.

I've got to get some new players in during the next window, I've only got one right back, one right winger, and two left wingers, so I've got to find some depth (the backups at left back are both D LCs too). My players aren't bad (which is why I'm doing so well in the league) but they're going to get overrun by the likes of Chivas and Tigres if I manage promotion.

Won the Apertura stage. We were expected to finish 3rd but Cavallo did really great and pushed us forward. He plays in a trequartisa role and really excels at it. The final against Correcaminos was difficult as my left winger got hurt in training prior to the first leg and my right winger got hurt during the match. I wound up playing an anchor man with two sitting in front of him with a three pronged attack at the top. It was tight but it worked.

Hopefully we can get promoted at the end of the season.

Haha, yeah. But it's not done yet, I still have to get promoted. I actually managed to get the "record signing" accomplishment in this game for a $32k right back (H).

I'm getting LOADS of draws due to last minute (sometimes literally) goals by the opposition, no matter what I do to lock the game down when I'm ahead. It's ridiculous. I managed an unbeaten season with Juve and was like the team with most ties.

I know what you mean. I'll have on an anchor man and an extra DC and one of them will find a way to fuck up in the box.

I usually go defensive around the 84th minute in an attempt to counteract the other team going into overload. I used "contain" a couple of times with disastrous results. I think -- with me, anyway, not sure how Fili's defenders are -- it's a lack of pace from the DCs. I had a similar issue at Winterthur.

It may well be of being too defensive. At the 86,87min mark I go all out defense, really. It's not a pace problem for me, it's usually a corner or a screamer from outside the box that ties the game. Some of them are just ridiculous.

I'm losing goals quicker than I'm losing faith in my country's political system at the moment. 4-3 loss to Ballenas Galeana, 4-4 draw with Tecos, and a 1-2 loss to Querétaro that could've been much, much worse. I had to rejig the defense a bit when a centerback got fatigued and the right back got hurt, but surely that wouldn't mean going from the best defense in the league to this?!

Financial status is dire too, I basically need to get promoted.

Also, Esqueda, my on-loan winger who's leading the division in assists has gone back to his parent club for treatment on a damaged knee.

Won the league and promotion. I was able to rectify the goal leak by playing an anchor man, it wasn't attractive but it worked. Hopefully I can bring in some good players now that I'm in Liga MX. Kikin Fonseca's old ass is coming in as a back up striker.

Look how tight the middle of that league was. I made the semifinals of the Cup and lost to Querétaro.

Edit: Marco Fabian not being in Mexico's squad to begin with, heh.
