Bob Marley+Reggae

I am looking for some songs from him where his voice takes center stage so to speak. Songs like, Redemtion Song, Jammin, Buffu. Soldier, Stand Up for your Rights. I have found a lot of songs where the chorus or beat drown out his voice, like Satisfy My Soul, Stir it Up, I guess you could say I am looking for some "raw" and pure stuff.

edit: any good reggae tips btw? something close to Bob.

What is it that you guys like about reggae? I've really tried to listen and understand the music and to like it, but after a while it just starts to annoy me...

Raggae is genuis, it's all about the vibe, Maarten...move those clogs :D

If you want something close to Bob Marley try Peter Tosh (as close as you can get to the genius himself) or try some Sly and Robbie.

My impression is that genres like ska, reggae and punk are way too boring and repetitive on their own, but as soon as you mix them with other genres it starts to kick ass. Just look at bands like Sublime....punk, reggae, ska, rock, rap and hip-hop all mixed into one great band. (Y)

Well, Reggae does get kind of....repetitive, sometimes. I don't think you can really listen to Bob Marley like you would The Beatles, who really made all types of music, happy, sad, angry, songs mixed with ska and country, psych music, revolution music. Bob's music and reggae in general is "happy" music. It is party music to me and life is not always a party. Like Phil said, it is all about the vibe, the mojo.

btw, I find that if I turn on Bob early in the day, I can't listen to anything else that day. Putting on Jammin' and then trying to listen to I Am The Walrus, or Dark Side Of The Moon is such a huge change in mood.

edit: Flyer, can you load up that song? I can't find it on the p2p programs. Phil, what songs should I get first from Peter Tosh?
