Beattie left out... suprise suprise

James Beattie was left out of the england squad, yet called up was heskey, vassell and rooney.

ok... so beattie has scored 8 league goals, the rest have 3 together.

this is only a friendly, so surely a chance to experiment with different combinations! beattie is better than vassell, and heskey isn't worth mentioning, rooney maybe better, but he's only young and surely beattie deserves a better chance than 15 minutes!

not sure what sven's thinking... :kader:

i really thought beattie would get picked for this squad and possibly start with owen out. but i'm starting to think that sven's got something against beattie. the guy's doing everything right. he's scoring and helping his team win. what more can he do? yea he doesn't have experience on the international level or whatnot...but he'll never have any when he's not being called or sitting on the bench. i can understand not picking alan smith, but there's definitely something wrong on the beattie front.

I have said this to Yash, and I will say it to all you.

Rooney has scored 8 goals in 42, 43 odd games.
Beattie has scored 40 in 78, and 56 goals out of 150 odd for his entire career.

Beattie has scored 7 in this season alone, almost more than Rooney over a few seasons. Its disgusting.

Would something like this happen in Italy? or France? Would a player like Rooney get selected over Beattie's superb record?

Vassel and Heskey are much better than Rooney. Rooney is f*cking over rated, let a proven goal scorer in, not a bloody fat kid who looks like Shreak.

I think that's an appalling selection of strikers. Rooney's good... I think you're taking it a bit far Rob claiming that Heskey's better than Rooney :D ... but he's been a bit off form this season, and Vassell has always impressed me in an England shirt. But to leave Beattie out!!! :o

Beattie has scored more goals than the three chosen strikers in the EPL combined this season, and he possibly did last season as well, yet Sven still leaves him out in a friendly!!!

Sven's given Heskey more than enough chance (2-3yrs!!!) to prove himself and if anything he has regressed in that time but Beattie gets 1 game and that's it. He should give Beattie most of the friendlies between now and Euro2004 to give him chance to settle into the team and see what he can do, unless he absolutely sucks in one of two of them England.

I wish someone would invent a gadget that could allow me to sit in the office and watch games than I'm unable to attend. Maybe something that would mean that I could record the games and watch them later on as well. :crazyboy:
