About the World Cup set-up
There are now 64 national teams in this ‘league’!!!
I was trying to add more, but the game only allows up to 64 clubs to be in one ‘league’.
I thought about making it a two ‘league’ system to allow for more teams, but it wouldn’t have worked in the end.
The ‘season’ starts out in December. Teams will play 1 ‘league’ matches. This match is TOTALLY meaningless, so just consider it a ‘friendly’!!!
I had to add ‘league’ matches for 2 reasons. 1st, it was needed to make the korea.trm file work properly and 2nd it lets the game have the correct ‘tables’. There’s now a table for the meaningless ‘season’ and a separate ‘tournament’ table.
So, just set your training schedule and simulate if you want.
In Dec/Jan, the World Cup qualifying matches start!!!
There are 11 groups w/ 6 to 7 teams in each.
The groups are…
A) Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, and Uruguay (4 teams will advance)
Australia, China, Iran, Japan, Saudi Arabia, and South Korea (4 teams will advance)
C) Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Trinidad-Tobago, and the USA (4 teams will advance)
D) Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Morocco, Nigeria, South Africa, and Togo (3 teams will advance)
E) Cameroon, Egypt, Mali, Senegal, Tunisia, and Zimbabwe (3 teams will advance)
F) Belarus, England, Italy, Norway, Slovenia, and Wales (2 teams will advance)
G) Austria, Czech Republic, Finland, the Netherlands, Romania, and Serbia (2 teams will advance)
H) Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Greece, Northern Ireland, Turkey, and the Ukraine (3 teams will advance)
I) Bulgaria, Latvia, Portugal, Russia, Scotland, Slovakia, and Spain (3 teams will advance)
J) France, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Poland, Sweden, and the Swiss (3 teams will advance)
You will play a home and away match against each team in your group – 10 or 12 matches total.
Note - These groupings will never change. If you want to switch the teams around, you’ll have to edit the korea.trm file yourself!!!
31 of those 63 teams will qualify for the World Cup.
Germany gets an automatic berth into the WC. They will always be in Group 1
Group Stage plays out just like in real life.
There will be 8 groups w/ 4 teams each.
You play each team in your group just once; the top 2 teams from each group will advance.
Those 16 teams will play down to 8 teams, then down to 4, and then the WC final!!!
Its single match, sudden death all the way through.
Notes – I tried to add the ‘best’ teams to the game, but at the same time, whatever national team had the most players already in the original FIFA database got the nod.
That’s why, for example, Mali (will not qualify in RL) is in the game, but Angola (has a good chance to qualify) isn’t.
Each team has between 20 and 23 players in it. Please note that I had to create quite a few players and that the stats I gave them might not be quite accurate.
