thing is, no one has proven a damn thing in terms of our strikers and its frustrating to see all of our goals come from midfield or totti. but, with that being said cassano will not be coming back anytime soon but to see him apologize on tv to totti and the team is a good sign for the future. he still is 23. and who knows what the future will bring.

Spalletti shelves Cassano talk
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Luciano Spalletti claims he has “more important things to think about” than Antonio Cassano’s comeback appeal, as Roma welcome Fiorentina to the capital.

“Let us talk about real facts here, enough has been said about Cassano,” snapped the Coach in today’s Press conference.

The former Giallorossi starlet has been frozen out of the Real Madrid squad following a row with Fabio Capello and said in a television interview he’d gladly “walk to Rome on foot” if it meant playing for them again.

“What counts is Sunday’s game, not Cassano. I was unable to get much out of him while he was here, and of course that is the real regret, but the matter is over with. Cassano belongs to Real Madrid.”

Roma are the favourites to win against Spalletti’s home-town club, especially as Luca Toni is ruled out by injury.

“It’ll be an even game, even if Toni is absent. This match can tell us a lot about our potential, as we’ll be facing an important adversary.”

It’s particularly spicy, as last season these two sides battled it out for months over the final Champions League spot. Fiorentina pipped them to the post, but due to the Calciopoli trial it was Roma who entered the competition.

“We deserved to be in Europe for what we expressed on the pitch, including in the head to head encounters with Fiorentina. I also have to acknowledge, though, that what happened was not the fault of the players, who earned their place in the top four.”

There was reassuring news for Spalletti, as the injury crisis is calming down and even Cristian Chivu could play after picking up a knock to his left knee in training.

“Chivu is fine, it was a false alarm. Amantino Mancini and Mirko Vucinic are doing pretty well after long lay-offs, but we’ll have to wait and see how the situation pans out before deciding when they’ll feature. We must evaluate the risks we’re running for one or both of them.”

It’s believed that the Brazilian will start in a 4-1-4-1 system with Francesco Totti the lone striker upfront and Daniele De Rossi in front of the defence.

Roma squad: Alberto Aquilani, Marco Cassetti, Cristian Chivu, Gianluca Curci, Daniele De Rossi, Rodrigo Defendi, Alexander Doni, Ricardo Faty, Matteo Ferrari, Amantino Mancini, Philippe Mexes, Vincenzo Montella, Christian Panucci, Simone Perrotta, David Pizarro, Aleandro Rosi, Rodrigo Taddei, Max Tonetto, Francesco Totti, Valerio Virga, Mirko Vucinic, Carlo Zotti

Sorry that I left this thread and you guys. Now I promise you I will to post more.

During my absence a lot of good things has happened to Roma :sun: We won two very important games with Fiorentina and Milan which makes me happy. And the most important thing is Totti has back to his normal form :clapwap:

I came here with great news about Roma tranfers. Roma is interested in Radosław Matusiak ( Polish striker who's currently playing for BOT Bełchatow) and is on second place best strikers in Polish league. He's is really promising player and if he come to us we can have lots of satisfaction that he play for our team. He has shown he's not afraid of play one-by-one. He's fast, play smart on the pitch, does not him difference with what he shoots. I think we have big chance to sign him in the summer ;)

He can be batter than Boniek (H)

Roma - Catania

Stadio Olimpico

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Roma will entertain newcomers Catania at the Stadio Olimpico in Week 12 looking to reduce the gap between themselves and the leading duo, Inter and Palermo. The Sicilians make their trip to the capital with few hopes, but surely they will not contradict their attacking mentality.

The Giallorossi are chasing their fourth victory in a row, while the Rossoblu continue to be unbeaten since Week 6. Roma, who have the best defence in the League having conceded only eight goals, are holding third position with 23 points. Catania are fourth with 16 points just like Siena, Atalanta and Livorno.

Roma are definitely having a good time and last week’s victory over Milan has kept their Scudetto hopes alive. The Giallorossi have shown that they are mature enough to challenge Inter for the title. Coach Luciano Spalletti is satisfied with the team’s improvements and will probably reconfirm the starting line-up from last week.

However, a muscle strain could force French defender Philippe Mexes to miss the tie. Former Parma defender Matteo Ferrari may replace him. Simone Perrotta is suffering from flu, but will probably recover from it just in time. Once again Mancini, Rodrigo Taddei and David Pizarro should play behind lone striker Francesco Totti. Vincenzo Montella and Mirko Vucinic will have to watch from the bench.

Catania boss Pasquale Marino is doing a great job with his team. Many believed that the Sicilians could pay for their attacking style playing in Serie A, but were proved wrong. Marino has always had faith and to this moment the results are on his side.

For the match against Roma, central defender Andrea Sottil should take his regular place after missing last week’s game due to suspension. Argentine full-back Jorge Vargas should once again be preferred to Gianluca Falsini. In the midfield Mark Edusei and Mattia Biso are options for the central position. Star man Giuseppe Mascara, who was also suspended last week, should play alongside Gionatha Spinesi and Giorgio Corona.

Man on fire: Francesco Totti (Roma) – His performance at the San Siro was simply outstanding with two goals and plenty of quality. This Giallorossi legend is definitely on the way to being the best he has ever been.

Last season: Not played

We are on fire so it should be pretty easy game but we can not disregard Catania. ;)

Roma eye Spalletti extension Monday 20 November, 2006

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Roma sporting director Daniele Pradè has confirmed that Coach Luciano Spalletti will be offered a contract extension soon.

The latest reports in Italy had suggested that Spalletti could move to Milan in the summer, seeing as he is yet to extend his contract with the capital city outfit which ends in June 2007.

“We are on the same wavelength with the Coach, we speak with him daily,” said Pradè to Rai Radio Anch’io Sport.

“We will study our plans for the future and I am sure we will find a solution which can please him and the club – we will do all we can to satisfy him.”

The Giallorossi put in an impressive performance on Sunday, scoring seven goals against Catania and keeping pace with Serie A leaders Inter.

“The Scudetto? The players are talking about it,” he continued. “The most important thing is that we have finally managed to do what we wanted – entertain our supporters.

“Simone Perrotta stated that we can compete for the title, but we cannot deny that Inter have something more than us when it comes to the number of players available.

“The Nerazzurri are one of the best teams in Europe and Palermo are dangerous as well, the defeat in Cagliari was just an accident.

“As to the transfer market, I prefer not to talk about it now, out of respect for a group that is doing very well.

“We have a strong squad, with the right mix of young and experienced players. We can maybe strengthen the team, but we will wait and see,” concluded the club official.
