Now, after Arsenal and Cesc said he'll continue at the club, would be a disrespect for Arsenal if Barça would made another bid. So this is the end of this story...

Underneath we reproduce in its entirety FC Barcelona’s press release regarding the news that Cesc Fàbregas is to continue at Arsenal FC.

“In the light of the statement released today regarding the contractual future of Cesc Fàbregas, FC Barcelona regrets the decision of Arsenal FC to declare the player not for sale and their decision not to take into consideration the offers proposed. None of those offers, in any way, exceeded 40 million Euros.”

As I said earlier, given no desired additions are made then would I hope not, and it does seem unlikely now since that he was at "Members' Day" and is in the squad photo.

hypocrisy? How about ingenuity? It's a goddamn business, and Barça didn't do very well in this particular case, they let him go for free and now must pay millions. Business, that's why Arsenal stand in his way. Is it hypocritical to not want to lose their best asset?
Barça didn't do well? wow, you still don't get it, do you? Barça couldn't do anything because Spanish law prevents them from offering Cesc a contract as a minor, which is what they would need to be able to tie him down to the club ... English law allows underage contracts for players within the catchment area ... so if Cesc wants to leave, and he moves to a certain area in London, Arsenal can offer him a contract ...

the hypocrisy I mention is about respect/disrespect, which is what has made this a heatedly debated topic ... Cesc wanted to leave, and Arsenal had no qualms taking advantage of the fact that Barça [by law] couldn't do anything about it ... Arsenal later paid the minimum compensation after FIFA ordered them to ... apparently that was no disrespect to Barça from Arsenal ... why? because Cesc wanted to leave ... fair enough ... but now that Cesc wants to leave Arsenal, apparently Barça making an official bid is somehow disrespectful ... that's the hyprocrisy ...

Aye, Guardiola was managing them back then, wasn't he?
oh sh!t, you got me ... Guardiola's the one who gave all the canteranos their break ... Rijkaard didn't give any youth product a chance ...

You give one example, and it's of the best player of his generation. Brilliant.
highly talented individuals have gotten their chance ... Cesc is more comparable in quality to Messi's level than Busquets' ... Messi debuted at 16 ... Sergio B. at 18 ... I'd venture to suggest that Cesc would have gotten a shot between 16 and 18 ...

As if it's a big leap. And of course I didn't mean everything, they didn't ******* breast feed him did they?
because breast-feeding is part of footballing education?

And I'm the stupid one. And who are you or anyone here to talk about being blinded by prejudices? I'm sorry for having influences, experiences and opinions who lead my to think in a way different than yours. Jesus Christ.
I don't know about "anyone here", but I've been willing to discuss my line of logic ... and it seems to me you are speaking purely based on being irritated by some people who think Cesc belongs to Barcelona, while missing the point -- refer to my first two paragraphs in this post -- on this respect/disrespect issue ...

I'm talking about these forums, and since the general idea of these Barça fans is that, then yes, I would generalize.
at your own peril ... because grouping me with your perception of Barça fans on this forum is always going to be rejected by me as being an ignorant perspective ...

Holy ******* jeez we gave up 5 goals to Legia Warsaw with our first choice back 4 and possibly our #1 GK. That's shocking, we absolutely need another defender, and I know we have four goalkeepers, but at the moment none of them are good enough, what more is there to say than either get a quality keeper in or put up with another year of uncertainty and mediocrity? I just don't get why this is so hard for Wenger?!

Our back five in the Legia game was a disaster. Unfortunately I'm highly doubtful that one week before the Liverpool game we'll get a new GK and worse still the new center back doesn't seem to be appearing. Fabianski as always was awful, if he has no confidence against his friends and old club how much more playing in the league or CL.

This whole transfer window from what I've seen in pre-season has more or less been wasted.

EDIT - Walcott, Kieran Gibbs and Carlos Wilshere named in England squad to face Hungary.

EDIT II - Dudu scores for Shakhtar on his debut!

One aspect of our goalkeeping situation I think Wenger has completely mismanaged is his repeatedly coming out and saying to the press that we have four top quality goalkeepers. More recently, he's said he'll now have to decide two things about our goalkeepers: who will be #1 and who will go out on loan. I believe he made that statement before the Legia Warsaw game (which was yet more proof that none of our goalkeepers are at the moment good enough to help us win the title) so now, if he decides to buy a goalkeeper, he'll have to contradict a statement he just made, and possibly damage a few relationships with the goalkeepers he has now. He dug himself a hole with a statement like that, and now that our goalkeepers have once again proven they're not ready, Wenger will have to go against his word (fat chance) to bring in that player we desperately need.

I thought we should have gotten rid of Almunia and Fabianski this summer, bought a class keeper, while using Mannone as our 2nd choice keeper...but with one week till the game v Liverpool that's not going to happen...

Wenger just signed up for another 4 years. I'm beginning to feel sorry for you Arsenal fans.
Yeah I'm really sorry that our most successful manager ever who has established us as one of the top eight clubs in Europe, made us very attractive to watch, and helped us transition into a world class stadium while still being financially responsible has signed on until 2014.

Look in truth I'm not delighted with this deal, I think a two year extension might have been better and I know Wenger has to correct some things if he is to win more trophies here. But for the reasons above (go ahead and test each one of them for truth) I'm willing for the time being to give him the benefit of the doubt, support him, and not feel sorry.

And if you want to think like that, United haven't changed their underwear for the last 24 years. Its gotten sour and wrinkled after each passing year. :D

Despite being a somewhat funny analogy, that's the most ignorant thing you could have come up with.

It's an ignorant statement if you read it seriously.

Well, most clubs are comfortable with the same managers and most ain't.

Just like a stinky pillow, only those who are used to the smell love it, others can't stand it.

I'll just end the silly analogies here.

Just wanted to have a friendly banter with Nady. :)
