To host an online game you just have to know what the ip of the game is (i.e. yourt i.p.) it'll say in the game status if you've ticked the box to played as a server.

You then just tell everyone the ip and they can directly connect.

I believe just the host needs your ip.. unless im mistaken and confused.... (havent played in a loooooong time) Anways... just be carefull with your ips. Esp if you have a static one, coz if, i for example, had ones ip and wanted to harm this guys computer it would be a piece of cake. Those with non static ips wont have a prob, coz all they have to do is disconnect and then come online again. Just a non needed, in this situation, advice :p

Start game> then open preferences and select 'run as server'. go on whatismyip.com to get the ip, and give it to those ready to connect to the game. Ensure that nothing such as router/firewall is blockin incoming connections.

if the ip is set manualy (depending on the router/modem) or you always get the same automaticaly from your InternetServiceProvider... you have a static ip.

This won't work, i've tried it before in CM0304 I think with only 5 people, and it ran so slow, and we couldn't get anything done, it took us an 2 hours for 1 match

But maybe it will work this time, and i want to try

nope, not realy. Unless you contact your ISP and request such a thing. It might be possible then with a little extra something. BTW having a static IP costs more because you can basicaly be all the time online. Without a static ip the provider every 1-2 days (depends realy..) releases the ip, so you loose your connection and have to reconnect in order to get a new one. Anyway, if u have a static ip you can only contact your provider and see what's possible to do in order to change it.
